I got one with the ST3 package, and no sunroof in performance blue. Got it for $25,014 +TTL, so I actually got a pretty damn good deal. It had 10 miles on the odometer when I picked it up, and I proceeded to break it in with a 400mile round trip jaunt to the family lake house this weekend including some fun twisty back roads. It's major fun and makes a very entertaining growl when you get on it. The Recaros are supremely comfortable and supportive, and so far even the voice commands for the SYNC system work. All in all, I'm very pleased with the purchase.......now is only I didn't have to pay he car note.

Awesome! Did you cross shop at all? The ST is the only vehicle that might sway me from getting a GTI next and I'm curious how you compared others.

I looked at the WRX and GTI as well. The ST has a much lower cost of ownership than the GTI (part of the reason I got rid of the MINI), and it was both more comfortable and less expensive than a similarly equipped WRX, to say nothing of an STI. Since this is going to be my DD those are huge factors for me. Price wise, I was looking at around $30k for a wrx, and this was on sale for $25 (sticker is $29), otherwise I would have been very seriously considering the WRX. Performance wise, thsi felt middle of the pack, faster than the GTI, but slower than the WRX, that said it also had a better ride than the WRX. Then I looked at cost of extended ownership. I can do a fair amount of work on cars myself, but on the GTI (and most VWs) parts are very expensive so it would be much more expensive to keep long term like I plan to do with this car.

It was actually hard as hell to find that combo. I wanted the extra headroom (not going to argue with less weight up high either, but the primary concern was headroom), but it seems like pretty much every dealer only had the ST3 with sunroofs, and honestly I almost missed this one untill I looked at the dealer's inventory.

Lol, those aren't an option on the ST as far as I know....now on the 1st gen miata I'll be picking up before long, that's an entirely different story.

Agreed! It really is the color that the model looks best in, like the Soul Red for the Mazda6, it just compliments the design perfectly.

Will do. If you're wanting to go new, keep your eye out for sales. Dealers seem to mark these things down a good bit over here so you may be surprised at the kind of deals you can find on them.

Thanks for the info. But yeah I'll keep an eye out for sales. I just cant afford a new car right now but next year maybe they will have a spring or summer sale like this past summer

i have the same car with a sunroof. You needed more headroom? that seat is so far forward i was going to ask if you are short? i'm 6'6", have the seat all the way down and back, but fit great, great seating position. No use for the seat behind me though except as a luggage rack. Great purchase, Great Choice!!! Congrats!

5'10" and the headroom is more an issue in the backseat. When I sat int he back of one with the sunroof, I felt like I was going to bump my head if the car hit the slightest bump in the road, and if I felt that way I was pretty sure that taller folks would definitely have issues. There is also the fact that I'm coming from a MINI Cooper S which has a really low seating position and tons of headroom (seriously, even with a helmet on I've got another 3 or 4 in), so I feel like most cars are lacking in the headroom dept. But yeah, with the seat pushed all the way down, and in that position I have plenty to spare in this car.

Good info. In Canada I see the ST listed for $30k on Ford's website, so $5k off would change the view considerably. No idea what the new GTI will sticker for here, but I'll bet it should close to that $30k, which means overall cost of ownership may change to an ST victory.

Understandable for sure. New cars are awesome, but not awesome enough to ruin your credit over.

It's the conclusion that I came to! That said, if I wasn't getting 5k off, it would have made the decision much more difficult, all 3 are damn good cars, and have their areas that they shine over the others.

Eww, yeah thankfully those aren't an issue for me, but I've got enough friends with them that can definitely understand the lack of money with those hanging over your head.

I have to ask though, why are the side skirts black and not body color?

It's a trick of the light, they are the same color as the rest of the car. Not entirely sure why it did that tbh.

I also sought out an ST3 with no sunroof to make damn sure I'd fit with my autocross helmet. (plus it's lighter and more rigid; because racecar). Congrats on the purchase!

I'd imagine the torquesteer requires you to focus on the road a lot more than normal.

Just doublechecked the driver side skirt, and it absolutely is a standard focus skirt. looks like I'll be talking to the dealer tomorrow to get that fixed. What's funny is that the other side IS an ST skirt. Looks like someone grabbed the wrong skirt on the assembly line, should be an easy fix.

There was another guy on the forum who had the wrong spoiler on his st. He didn't realize until he had posted pictures too! I'm not sure how ford made these mistakes but the dealer should make it right! Good luck!

She's going to get a polish early next year (friend's dad's car, friend's car is the Fiesta ST). She's 12month old and not been touched with a brush or sponge. Gave her a few washes, decon, rewash and seal for winter. Turns almost purple in the late evening sun.

Nice, I'll be removing the dealer sticker and giving mine a good wash, clay, and wax after the dealer fixes my little side skirt issue (hopefully next week).
