I was at a restaurant in Colorado Springs back in June of 2011. I was walking to the restroom and saw Paul Walker. I stopped and said hello. I didn't get the celebrity brush-off, he asked me to sit down. We talked mostly about cars. He recounted his run up Pikes Peak in a Porsche 911.

It was terribly sad to hear of his passing today, reportedly in a Porsche Carrera GT. He wasn't out carousing, he was on his way to support a charity event. That is the Paul Walker I was able to meet and get to know a little bit. He was more than an actor. He had a passion for cars and was actually a pretty good driver. Rest in peace Paul.

There are not enough people like this in the world and when they're achieving greatness they're taken away from us far too soon.

I'm incredibly jealous that you met him and had a chance to talk cars with him. I remember watching The Fast and the Furious in 2001 when I was only 10 years old. That movie, that Bright Orange Supra, built the foundation of my inner auto enthusiast. If he could read this, I would thank him for introducing me to the thing I'm incredibly passionate about.

It truly is a sad day because of his passing. May he rest in peace and I hope he's handed the keys to his own Blue Skyline once through the Pearly Gates.

I share a similar story. That Bright orange supra, and the Skyline that would follow, was always the yin I loved to the yang my dad love (Charger/Camaro/Challenger). He loved muscle cars and grew up in that era. I grew up in the 90's, and still dream of the cars I grew up watching Paul drive. These movies captivated a generation of car lovers. And for that, I am very thankful. I also deeply respect Paul as a person, and for being a genuine car lover and skilled driver.

Yes thanks for sharing. It was very cool that he asked you to sit down and talked cars. He really seemed like a normal guy who didn't let fame change his personality.

I grew up in the 2000s and every year or couple of years I would frantically wait for the new FF film to come out and watch Paul Walker do for lack of a better phrase "some crazy shit" and it captivated me, I'm a car guy largely because of these films and mostly because of this man he really helped spawn a generation of car nuts. And lastly As everyone has said Paul Walker was and forever will be a symbol of car culture, and I don't think he wanted anything more.
