Somebody needs to make a series of adds like this.

This is brilliant.

I think car companies would highly benefit from building brand loyalty in the used market, rather than just trying to tart up new cars and sell them at a premium. Imagine a world where the automakers owned the dealerships, so they could ensure a healthy used market for their cars!

I loooong await this day. I'm hoping the Tesla model puts a chink in the dealer system.

Hmm what would stop them from destroying perfectly good used cars so people were forced into buying a new downmarket model instead of a used upmarket model?

It's not fair to hate on all Corollas. The modern ones are shit, but 70's SR5s or the AE86 were a-ok in my book. Do I still get shot?

That fake ad is literally the most brilliant thing I've ever seen in my life. It's also 100% true, and a rule I live by. Everyone should see this.

Wasn't that bad in the year I owned mine; I never spent more than a hundred dollars fixing any one thing. Just a few livable electric gremlins

Only 740iL's around here, I much prefer the 740i M-sport. I did find this though: http://milwaukee.craigslist.org/cto/4198858924…

Normal used sales. The automakers shouldn't have exclusive control over the used market, but they should be able to have their own used dealerships.

"Certified pre-owned" is already like this, but the difference is that the certification usually has nothing to do with the automaker and is basically a way for dealers to mark up nice used examples even higher.

It's not a terrible idea, but I'd think they'd need some sort of angle. Example: It would be pretty cool if they could allow the option for additional options that the car was prewired for, such as adding foglights. This is usually easy enough to do for people who know which end of a wrench to hold but those who don't probably wouldn't even realize that a shop could do it. Such a service could really give incentive for the less mechanically inclined to consider quality-used over new-junk.

This is exactly what I am still trying to convince my wife of...two years after buying my used 3-series.
