The Corvette is a 68-69 because the four vertical fender scoops was only available on those two years.

I believe I have that one labeled as 69 Corvette 427. That's the silver one. It actually got 2nd in the country in some Corvette Concours event.
The red one is either a 76 or 78, I think.

Jay Leno tried buying it and he declined.
I'm afraid that may be an impossible task, sir.

It's been so long since I've seen a reference to a pre-facelift ZR-1. Worth so much more than later ones (IMHO). It's amazing.

Oh damnit, I misread that. Pretty nice vette.

I haven't driven a new ZR1 yet. My guess is it's pretty comparable to a neutron bomb.
I can say the old one is a crazy capable car. Severely underrated, you're right.

I meant C4 pre-facelift vs. C4 post-facelift (before the regular C4 took on the ZR-1 convex rear). The front running lights are the indicator (no pun intended). It took a man of great clairvoyance and money to pick up one of the first ZR-1s, and merely a man with great money, and the ability to see the ZR-1 had sold well and received good reviews to buy one a few years later.

You should meet my other friend.
A man of great money of little brains who bought an early ZR1 and then took it to Lingenfelter for MOAR POWERRR!!
I've been very fortunate to drive as many crazy sports and muscle cars as I have, being only 20, but that Lingenfelter is the 2nd scariest thing in my life I've ever been in.

Ruined! That Lingenfelter Vette is now worth half of what you'd need to spend on a new Camaro to match the performance, and destine to continue to lose value. You hurt me brother... :)

Eh, my guess is that it's worth a lot of money now. New Camaros weigh about 18,900,872 pounds anyway.

There's a white Lingenfelter ZR1 that lives about a mile away. Could've been that one?

It's a 1990 ZR-1. It's the only year the ZR-1 had the black belt-line, and it is thus the best year. :)
P.S. the hyphen is important. ZR-1 = 1990 to 1995 car. ZR1 = 2009 to 2013 car. In rare instance, ZR-1 is used to refer to the original ZR-1 package from the 70s. =þ

Eh, I dunno. I've seen LPE ZR-1s sell for over $50,000, while I see stock 1990 ZR-1s go for $15,000 or less. There's a red 1990 ZR-1 with over 80,000 miles for sale on the ZR-1 registry for $13,500, and that's including all of the stock components that are currently not on the car in favour of better components. Total steal, I say, and I wish I could trade my LT4 for it.

Well Chevy can suck my dick about it's hypens. This is Murica, and hypens are for sissy cars and commies.
But thank you for clearing that up. It's an amazing car. The only car capable of making getting out less civilized than a Lotus Exige.
(Nobody bother arguing. I've driven both. The Corvette's a real enigma to get in and out.

5'11" 155lbs.
I can't even begin to imagine how normal Corvette owners fit in ZR-1s.

I'm 5' 8" and 125 lbs. I don't actually find it difficult unless somebody has blocked my door from opening all the way. On entry, you just step into the footwell with your right foot, sit down onto the seat, and then pull your left leg in; no bracing required. On exit, you swing your left foot out, brace on the door sill, push yourself out, and stand right up. And I do all of this with the seat pulled up as close as it can get to the wheel.
I can't really compare it to a Lotus Exige, since I haven't sat in one. All I can really say is that I don't experience much difficulty during ingress and egress. Then again, I have been told that I am physically the perfect size for the car. I guess being short has its advantages, no?

Well the owner is about 5'7", so it is possible that the seat could've been more forward than my liking. But I don't know, I'm just reporting my comparison.
I think it has to do with the thick sides rails or the lack of legroom. It's also a very cramped garage.

Interesting. I'm not a Corvette die-hard by any means, but a keep-things-stock-at almost-any-cost-purist obviously. This is all great news for me if I ever find myself in the market for a C4 ZR-1.

Most of them have been modified in some way; usually exhaust, wheels, and a chip. One would think that 1990 ZR-1 cars are valuable as a one-year style, but you have to remember about half of all C4 Zr-1s were built for MY1990. Even more than that, the ZR-1 after 1993 got a bump in power from 375 to405 and '94/'95 cars have something called Dunn, both of which are highly valued items.
Personally, I would love for 1990 ZR-1s to stay cheap. I want one, but I won't be in a position to acquire one for some time.
Also of interest, the ZR-1 in this man's garage is really valuable as one of only 19 Quasar Blue 1990 examples in existence.

This is the 95 Lingenfelter. After riding in it today I can tell you that they in no way ruined the car. It's unbelievably fast. It's been heavily modified and built up the correct way and is now pushing a bit under 700hp.
I kid you not, swear to god, hand on my heart, he took me from 0-152-0 in one miles space. It's stupid fast.

This also explains a bit of why it's a bit of a job to get into. Super high door sills.

I consider LPE modifications an improvement to any Corvette, ZR-1 or not. The other guy was the keep-it-stock type. :)
I am incredibly jealous that you got to drive that. One of the best Corvettes ever built and a world game-changer, and modified to better than stock levels of performance. Yes, jealous indeed.

This is probably makes it a challenge. Very low driving position matched wit very high door sills.
