It was apparently some sort of vintage stuff game store and I found an area with a couple rows of hot wheels and I proceeded to show my inner 4 year old to all my college peers.
Can anyone give me some information on this one? I was looking for F40s since my dad collects them, but I luckily found this 911 that I collect.

Wow, nice find. That one's from the 1999 Mainline, but the casting itself debuted sometime in 1996, after Hot Wheels purchased Corgi's small scale line. This casting was originally a Corgi Jr./Husky release, coming in black with Porsche rally stripes and had a short run on the Mainline until it was retired, I think, in 2003.

It's part of the X-Treme Speed Series, specifically a Porsche Carrera, #3 in a series of 4. That's all I can tell you about it.

As others have said, it's an ex-Corgi Hot Wheels. That specific variant was released in 1999. Ebay throws its value between $1 and $3.

I love the 911 Carrera. It's a bit out of scale but it's a nice solid car. I have the Final Run variation.
Here's the South Texas Die-Cast listing for the Carrera variations.

By the way, I got a buddy of mine that can come down and take a look it. He's an expert in these things. Until that happens, best I can do is 7 cents. You have any idea how hard it is to frame one of these things? Not to mention the space it would take up on the showroom floor. There's a really small market for this stuff and I'll have to work to find a buyer. We got a deal?

Is there anyone else who collects 1/64 and doesn't keep them in the plastic?
Because I buy my JL's and immediately open them up, zoom them around the floor and pretend I'm six years old again. $20? Only worth it if you keep it in the package? Fuck that nonsense. To me, that's like paying for a hooker and then just watching.

Unless it's a typo'd tag, it comes out and gets examined and played with.

Meeee! Besides, I never chance upon the Super Treasure Hunts or regular Treasure Hunts, and those Tomica LFA limited editions have boxes that can be opened and reopened with no trouble (and department stores still have a good amount of them). Or errors either. Besides, plenty of loose cars command the same price as carded cars on eBay...

I never keep them in a package. Granted I don't have a massive collection but I like to examine them and display them (and wonder why suddenly the one A-pillar on my fairly new BMW 2002 is dented in)

Nice find! That car is part of the 2000 X-treme speed sub series. The series also had an F-body drag car, an AC cobra, and some kind of blue fancy looking thing with it.
