Or recommendations? Im trying to find a good socket set to recommend to my wife for a gift for me; Yeah, that's how she wants it. Anyway, what I need is a high quality 3/8 or 1/2 metric socket set that's 6 pt and shallow for hard to reach bolts (the only kind on a land cruiser). I need 7-19 or thereabouts. Having a heck of a time finding one

I'd tell you to try Sears and look at the Craftsman sets, but since they decided to be offline today...

I would take a look at Ridgid from your local Home Depot. They seem to be pretty well made tools, and for the most part, if something goes wrong, they will take care of you at the service desk.

Rigid is the Lowes brand, right? Husky is the home depot brand.

Kobalt is the Lowe's brand.

Not sure which is Home Depot specific. They carry Ridgid, Ryobi, and others. I believe that HD is the exclusive retailer of Ryobi as well.

Yep, you're half right, and and I am wrong. It is Husky that I was thinking about. Ridgid makes the power tools, and for some reason the name was stuck in my head.

Just a note: Bought a 400 piece Husky mechanics set from Home Depot, with lifetime warranty, but it's not a store warranty unless they have the single part. Ie: broke a 13mm 12-pt and took it in, there were no singles on the wall, so they couldn't help me. I had to use mail, wait, wait... etc.

I also have an old Sears set, and everything I break they replace off the wall, in store, at the time. The difference in that service is marked.

My brother had the same problem. He has his big standard set, but bought a little set and then proceded to cut off the socket ends of the new one to shorten their throats for his applications. (He also had access to a power hacksaw, so ymmv.) Cheaper than buying special, maybe?

Good to know. I have yet to pop one of their sockets, so I haven't had the same experience, but I did have a breaker bar let go on e, and it was replaced right there at the store.

Short, or even standard depth would be fine, they exist...just haven't found a good kit that has what I need.

If you want really high quality get snap on. If you want good quality at a decent price just get a set from Craftsman, they still have the lifetime warranty.

First, pawnshops. Second Sears (best selection).
