He's about $2k too high.
Emotional attachment doesn't equal value.

I debated on texting him back and telling him I about choked when he said that. He is seriously out of his mind if he thinks someone will pay that, even if it is a "rare" 242.

3k is high but he's not that far off. If it's rust-free, and if the O/D worked, he'd be more in the ballpark, 242s aren't all that easy to find in good shape

I do know they're worth a pretty penny, but after reading 2 things from this article it definitely makes me back way up. One it's his first car, and it has a manual WITH a turbo. That right there is sketchy for me. And secondly, he's fixing stuff such as the switches in the cheapest way he can, which really makes me wonder about how he's fixed anything and everything else on it.

Ooh fair point, I didn't catch the switch thing, yeah that makes it more CP for sure….damn

Oh yeah. If he had said it was ~$1000, I would have jumped on that like a crackhead on a lost wallet. I was debating on getting one and swapping it, but if I did I don't think I could justify the usual LS1 swap. Would want to stick in the family, just because it's nice.
I will say though, that body does look pretty good from here.
