While we obviously don't celebrate thanksgiving here; I certainly appreciate the spirit; though my knowledge is limited to the countless Thanksgiving specials I have seen from American TV series.
I am thankfull that my lesson in what bald tyres plus a minispool plus rain plus a just ridiculously slippery road
(I remember now I had been told stories of just how slippery it could be but I was on my way to work at 4am and was not taking my usual route)
Anyway; exiting a side street onto a three lane single direction road, I gave it the usual 1/3 throttle, ideal for inducing a small amount of oversteer in wet conditions.
Well to my surprise, instead of easing the tail end out a few degrees; the SS just straight up did a 180- basically on the spot whilst retaining forward momentum- and all off a sudden I'm sliding arse backwards towards a power pole. THANKFULLY for whatever reason I came to stop without so much as hitting the gutter (not sure if I did anything to help or if it was purely physics).
The slipperiness of the road became clear as I tried to gingerly do a u-turn and continue on my way. So I idle my way through the u-turn and once the car is straight I just breathe on the throttle (I'm a little shaken an in no mood for further shenanigans) but the car REFUSES to find traction and I'm forced to idle the rest of the way to the next intersection where the road surface changed and I was able to apply any throttle at all.
Yammered on a bit but she'll be right
