How did it break?

While trying to remove one of the locks. The dealer was the last place to touch them, chances are they used the gun and overtorqued them.

I once had crappy aftermarket lug nuts that require a special tool to take them off, and the tool snapped. Broke out a whipple socket and had them all off in no time. They kind of taper and have almost like rifling down the inside so as you turn them to the left, they bite harder.

No but how did the key itself break? I've never had an issue with wheel locks and impact guns, at least the Chrysler locks anyway.

The keyed part that fits into the lock (black) sheared off from the side that fits into the lug wrench (silver).

Ugh I hate lug studs, my Dart is the first car I've owned with them. But that really sucks. Basically all our Rams come with them and they're our bread and butter so naturally we service alot of them. As far as I'm aware, we haven't had this happen. You gotta know the strenght of your gun.

Were they factory wheel locks? Should be easy enough to get a new one if so.

Yeah, factory Mini locks, manufactured by Mcgard. Apparently each dealer has a master set of keys. I'm gonna stop by there tomorrow and have them remove the locks, at which point I will replace them with the 4 regular lug bolts I have.

Wheel locks can be more of a nuisance anyway. Unless you're in a really bad neighborhood, it's pretty unlikely to get your wheels stolen.

With the wheel locks you have you should be able to hammer the lock part back into the socket and get them off, hopefully.

And if the dealer was the last to touch them you should make them replace the lock.
