It's back story time. TL;dr included.

Kinja'd!!!

Since 2006, I've survived solely my PS2. The first video game I ever played was a Spongebob Squarepants game. Then there was an ATV game...that was fun but I was terrible at it. After that came Midnight Club 2. It's still one of my most favorite games to this date, since I never played many else. I played 007 Nightfire and despite liking 007, I discovered I was absolute shit at shooting games and didn't really enjoy them. In middle school I was into basketball so I bought NBA Live 05 and 06. While they were fun games, I was never good at those either. Then I got into some really strange games, like Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, Primal (gifted to me on my 12th birthday by two fraternal twins I've known since Pre-K), Supercar Street Challenge (I hate that game), and The Fairly OddParents: Shadow Showdown (Spelunking!!!!!!). Out of those games, I only finished Spongebob Squarepants, Midnight Club 2, Harry Potter and The Fairly Oddparents.

Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!!

Once that weird phase was done with, one day my sister thought it would be a great idea to purchase some random cruddy fucking game that she said was supposed to be scary/horror. It was named, "Silent Hill 2." And holy fucking fuck that game was so scary and somewhat difficult that I never actually got around to finishing it. My sister never even played it anywhere near a fraction as much as I did. Sadly due to the fact that the PS2 was stationed in my room.

Kinja'd!!!

The reason I even ever got a PS2 was so that I could play Midnight Club 2 on it. I slept over a lot at one of my cousin's homes in the summer of 06. He had Midnight Club 2 and when I got a taste of cruising in that game, I was hooked. I had never expressed interest in cars further than a shirt picturing some obscure sun burnt orange sports car with flames surrounding it.

My cousin had already beaten Midnight Club 2 so he let me borrow it. I had it for only a few weeks and played it religiously. I eventually returned it to him, once I had explored every career and arcade aspect of the game. To this day, I still have the game save of all my achievements in Midnight Club 2 stowed away on the 8 megabyte memory card that came with my PS2.

I beat the game, played a number of those strange games I mentioned above and took a hiatus from my PS2. It was completely unintentional. I never meant to leave my PS2 alone for two to three years. For my 13th birthday my mom said I could either get a PSP or a DS. I made a huge mistake buying that because I only ever played Big Brain Academy, Yu-Gi-Oh, and Pokemon on that thing. On my 14th birthday I decided to get a PSP and bought Midnight Club 3 for it. It was a great game, but would have been better if I had just gotten it for PS2 instead. When Midnight Club: LA Remix came out I expected good things. I read the fourth installment would have all sorts of improvements, such as zero loading times and so on. Which unfortunately was only true for the PS3 version of the game. The PSP was really a crappy console compared to the DS. I haven't charged that Nintendo since Hurricane Ike in 2008 and the damn thing still turns on, whereas the PSP would die in a matter of weeks despite not being used ever after I got sick of playing games on itty bitty screens (how do people even play games on their phones?!?!?!)

Kinja'd!!!

In high school, I began to get pretty cool with one of my other cousins who had GT3 for his PS2. I got pretty close to him and even though we didn't hang out often, we felt invigorated interacting with each other. I played GT3 and did an endurance race on Career Mode at that one speedway you just drive a circle in (fucking hate that track now). GT3 gave me a different pleasure than Midnight Club did. I was addicted.

Kinja'd!!!

So one day when I was perusing the PS2 titles at Walmart, my eyes stumbled upon GT4. I had to have it and got my Dad to buy it for me. The moment I got home I popped the disc in and played it more religiously than any game ever before. I've almost beaten the game twice, but never completely because fuck the endurance races. Even in B-Spec mode and x3 fast forwarding those races take forever and I hate keeping my PS2 on for more than the usual 2-3 hours through the night.

Kinja'd!!!

Up until December 2010, GT4 was the most recent game I ever played and owned. Around that time I took a keen interest in Kingdom Hearts and borrowed my GT3 cousin's copy of the first game in the series. I was stunned. I didn't think it was even possible. The music, the story, the incorporation of Disney characters (and Final Fantasy characters as well, but I've never played that series)...I was sure (and still am) that this game would lead me in shambles by the time I reached the end of the series.

Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!!

In December of 2011, I bought the PS2 version of Kingdom Hearts' Chain of Memories and Kingdom Hearts 2 simultaneously. I've never had such feels before, that is all I can even say about this entire series.

Thus, this back story is complete.

Tomorrow, hopefully I am purchasing a PS3 at Walmart for the nice price of $149. If it's out of stock I'll be buying it online at the same price but I'll have to wait longer for it to be in my hands. I'm only buying it for GT6 and eventually Kingdom Hearts, for when the PS3 versions are slowly released so that they can be enjoyed not on itty bitty screens.

I am also accompanying my friend on Saturday to a track day 55 miles south of where I live. He's tracking his S2000 for the first time and I will be taking photos of him out there doin' his thang. That same track is also offering Groupons for karting, which I love karting at their track since the karts will do upwards of 45mph (I believe they max out at 60mph) and I'm hoping I can do better than my personal best of 1:15 on the 0.7 mile-long karting track they have. 5 laps ringing in at 1:09 will allow me to get on their faster karts which have shifters. I think their top speeds are around maybe 80mph. I'm hoping I can get as many friends together to come out, since it'll only cost $22 for two 15-minute sessions. I want to get competitive and come out on top amongst my friends, that's all :)

Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!!

I'm pretty frikkin' skinny if you can't tell.

TL;dr is the last 2 paragraphs above.

This was a scheduled post and I have typed this up at 4am, so I apologize if the post isn't all that great in grammar or spelling and etc. I haven't been awake this late since summer break. I hate being up this late now...

Can't wait to play GT6 with you! I bought my PS3 a couple years ago just for GT5. It's still really the only game I have for the PS3.

Funny, my first/last console is a PS2. And last night at 1am I decided to play GT4 for 3 hours. Being home from college brings back all your childhood memories. It's a great game and I can't wait to make the jump as well.

That kart track looks awesome man!

But the fact youre not wearing overall makes me cringe!

Is it because its hot or something? I dont think id go on a proper kart without overalls.

I still chose Gran Turismo 2 on the PS1 over any of the other games in the series.

I've been playing GT4 these past few weeks to get myself in shape for GT6. The change is going to be so dramatic and improving, I know that when I move up to GT6 I will never be able to revert to GT4. I'm a bit sad.

The first video game I ever played was a Spongebob Squarepants game.

Holy crap, that made me feel old. I think the first console game I played was Pitfall on the Atari 2600.

Anyway, if you haven't seen the Oppo Gamertag Spreadsheet yet, there's a fair amount of PSN usernames on there, should you want to add some. Protip: when creating your own PSN account, be sure you are happy with your name. You can't change it.

Kart overalls...why am I not wearing any? I'm not racing professionally, just battling amongst other civilians. I don't see why I'd need any.

Those photos were taken in March. The weather wasn't hot at all, rather a pleasant day to be be outside.

I'll never know what GT1 or GT2 would have been like! But now that I'm moving onwards it's highly unlikely I could ever revert to an older game in the series.

Awesome! :D I'm hoping to get a PS3 today and then reserve a copy of GT6. Once I've gotten GT6 in my hands I guess it'll be time to share my user ID with everybody!

Shouldn't it be your PSN gamertag or something?

Same here, it was a revolution since it debuted. PS3 and PS4 don't have the same karma that the PS2 had IMO. Plus I still have a bunch of PSX and PS2 that I didn't finish. I'll finish them first then move to the PS3.

Yeah, I mean I don't know any of it... I boot up my PS3 about once every three months or so. Then I watch it update and then I don't usually bother to play. Hopefully that will change when GT6 comes. Trying to get a lot of work done before then...
