when I installed RoR to sub for BeamNG (I don't really blame BeamNG). Not only did I uninstall RoR which hardly worked, but it takes me forever to load pages because the toolbar flashes and reloads and I get stupid ads everywhere. There are also flashy ads everywhere and every time I right click and click on an option it stays on the screen, translucent. I can't even source the file of the viruses I got from RoR this time...

hmm.. did you get the official installer? I never got such a thing from the official RoR install. They have a warning on the site to not click the banners.

I did. This time on the official installer there was an option to download this program and I forgot to un-check the box. For some reason it seems that RoR has always had issues just with mods from the repository as well, as that's why I uninstalled the program long ago.

Time to switch to Linux or Mac!

Haha never. I got the a similar virus on my Mac that I recently ditched, anyways. Mac viruses are on the rise, and the OS is really not for me even after years of using it. Apple hardware's nothing to write home about, either—despite the sentiment in our marketplace.

Yeah, RoR is fairly buggy with certain mods, a newer version may just break a vehicle made for an older one.

Bummer you got a similar virus on Mac too.

I guess Linux is the only safe choice these days!

If I could run MS Office on Linux I would have switched years ago. It's the only desktop app that I must use the original version of. I don't really care which PDF viewer/editor I use or which text editor I use.

Try Menu (3 horizontal lines on the top right) > Tools > Extensions, find out what toolbar that is, and get rid of it.

There may be some other junk in there as well.

It also helps to know what the toolbar is called. search it up on Google and there should be ways to remove it. I got something similar as well, I unchecked a box in an installer, and it installed the stupid toolbar anyway.

That's dumb. I also hate how some installers bombard you with ads and hidden boxes, etc.

If you haven't fixed this yet, try Malwarebytes. I liked the free version enough to buy the Pro edition, the free version should take care of this though.

http://www.malwarebytes.org/ is the official site. I have to wonder how many sites are offering fake downloads of Malwarebytes with malware attached.

Thank you! I can't believe I didn't do that—I have to do it all the time every time I get this kind of thing :P

Yep. Funny thing is that I always end up solving everyone else's problems but when it comes to my computer I just sit there fuming until I think about actually solving it. Haha

Thank you! I'll be sure to try it out. It seems like so many viruses these days are disguised as virus-fixing programs.
