Take this article on their MkVI Golf TDI build. Not !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! ,but it also shows just how regulated modern Diesels are. Seriously, there are 70's catalytic converter/Smog levels of power loss going on here.
Anyway, I've been on Moto IQ a couple times before, but now I've realized just how valuable a source it is for technical information. It also helps that unlike sites like CDX online, it's more geared towards proper gearheads that might do a proper build rather then some college engineer.

Read through all of their builds, as well as their "ultimate guide to suspension and handling". There is a TON of awesome info in there.

Dave Coleman writes for them. I used to really like his stuff back in the Sport Compact Car days.
Then one day, on my way between Seattle and Portland, I got stuck in a traffic jam, pulled over to wait it out, and just happened to wait it out at the same gas station as him. Very cool guy!
