This is one instance where he might have actually been saved by not wearing a seat belt. He ended up on the complete opposite side of the car from where he started.

As far as I can tell from the footage, the truck smacked the rear of the passenger compartment, so it missed impacting his body directly. Still amazing that he walks away, though.

Looks like the initial impact was to the rear quarter and the rest of the damage came from the front spinning around and hitting the truck. If he had been 1 second earlier he would not be here.

If you freeze the video when he is in front of the dashcam (prior to accident) you can see there are TWO people in the car.

The passenger survived as well; was tossed into the back seat.
