I'm for it.

As someone who has to deal with fucktard PA/NJ drivers daily, I'm okay with this.

I live in MD and I feel your pain.

I wholeheartedly agree with this. Unfortunately, by the sounds of it, it's open to interpretation by each officer, which probably means it will be a secondary offence...

I think it needs to be vague. There's so much stupid crap people will do behind the wheel.

What about road head
They better not ban road head

It's a slippery slope.
Today, it's snackers and smokers. Tomorrow it's
hot beverage drinkers
then
cold beverage drinkers
Then it's
anybody touching a radio dial or GPS
Then
talking
sneezing
eye scratching
nose picking
teeth picking
blinking
one hand on the steering wheel
seat belt too loose
shoes untied
elbows too straight
pants too tight
wrong kind of shirt
angry faces
resting bitch face
bad thoughts
not smiling enough
haven't fined you in more than 8 days
Please don't try to regulate out bad behavior. That's what public shaming is for.

Unless the driver is giving the head, I don't see why they would. I mean, both your hands are on the wheel and your still totally focused, right?

Yeah, I doubt it will go past your second bullet point.
![]() 11/27/2013 at 09:25 |

I sure hope not. This needs to be the most enforced driving law.

Totally focused on the task at, erm,
![]() 11/27/2013 at 09:29 |

But then what? Do people start using amazingly long straws for 'hands free' drinking? Do car manufacturers come out with shoulder level retractable cup holders for drivers? Do women with morning coffee addictions start wearing hijabs to conceal their law breaking?
If there is any corner of conformity left, the market will expose and capitalize on it.

Smoking should not be part of that list,

I'm okay with all of these. Because I'd comply with all of them if I was driving while receiving oral pleasure.

No shit! There are worse things than smoking that distracts your driving. This is just political bullshit. And it needs to stop!

Nascar style cup holders?! I'm gonna corner that market ASAP.
Seriously, though, eating is on the same level as cell phone use, to me. Smoking, I'm not so sure. Maybe lighting a cigarette. It will be up to the officer, as stated. Socially acceptable distracted driving is no more safe than other forms, and should be treated as such. And I don't see how a hijab would conceal eating and smoking.

Smoking isn't actually in the law, and I doubt you would get pulled over for it. Lighting a cigarette might get you pulled over, though, as it can take both hands and concentration sometimes.

i got stopped once for something like that. I was in traffic but moving (about 2-5 mph). I had some breakfast tacos I had been chowing down on sitting in the center console. One hand on the wheel and the other holding the taco taking occasional bites when the cop next to me pointed at me signaling to pull over. He gave me a warning for not having 2 hands on the wheel or some shit. Yet, I totally understand dealing with dumbass distracted drivers, I support this :]

lol !

Actually, I know there have been studies out there (but it's still; under debate) that the most dangerous part of cell phone use is not the hand use part, but the way your brain works in a 'remote' conversation.
Your brain tends to wander more as it tries to imagine what the other person's reactions are. Without the normal visual cues, your brain tries to create them, thus distracting you more.
Also, I think hijab was the wrong type. I'm thinking the veil that covers the mouth, too. Not an area I'm well versed in.

I could believe that. But I also know that you have limited steering response because of one hand being off of the wheel. Whenever you look at your phone to hit a space on the screen, or a button, you are not looking at the road. If you are eating, you have to pay attention to your food so that it doesn't fall apart or drip everywhere (depending on the food, of course). These things all distract you and make you less likely to avoid an accident. Even if you are staying in your lane and driving the speed limit, if something appears in your path, it would be much more difficult to react.

I'm for it, I don't smoke and I have a no food policy in my car.
