the price... yeah, I get that it is high. But I've got nothing but time on my hands with this car, so I'm just hoping that with time the right buyer will come along and be willing to pay close to my asking (not really expecting to get full asking), a strategy that has paid off well before.

Dude. No rust, under 200k, manual, N.... oh right, Engine noise. As a former Subaru enthusiast/rebuilder, you should take that guy up on his $1000 offer. Engines/engine work on these are not cheap.
Edit: I would part it out. You'll get $2k plus is you do. Trust me.

Weren't the SOHC 2.2's non-interference engines? I don't think its valve damage if that's the case.

Am I the only one that thinks when a CL ad starts out "I am selling this for a friend" that I should run? Why can said friend not sell said item? Is it just me?

yeah, I agree, but its the truth, and I didn't want that to be an issue that came up later when they see my name is not on the title.

the man speaks the truth, my 95 is non-interference. this 99 is sadly interference

indeed, poor maintenance. He told me his clutch was going and asked if it was worth repairing and I thought no, so he drove it some more. turns out it was the clutch fork, and the result was that it was KICKING into gears, instead of gently engaging. I'm pretty confident it was this harshness that caused the engine to skip. If only I'd driving it earlier, it was immediately clear it was not just an old clutch.

So, I assume your friend has already signed the title, or will once cash is paid? Does buying a car not require a notary anymore or is it state specific or are these questions best left unanswered where they cannot come back to haunt said sale?
![]() 11/26/2013 at 16:25 |

No notary required in Colorado. Bill of sale is optional. All they care is that the signatures are in the right places on the title.

what nibbles said. Friend has agreed to turn up if needed to satisfy a buyer
