The Toyota Avalon is being driven! Near some snow, nonetheless!

I should stop talking about this car now, I'm starting to fall asleep.

*sigh* if only this car had less Camry in it... It could be a legitimate luxury competitor. Got to ride in one the other week, and the interior and exterior were quite nice, so was the tech, but the bumpy ride was such a let down. Guess toyota felt the need to give it a shitty damper tuning to keep it from cannibalizing IS250 sales. Boo toyota. Boooo.

Really? I heard it rode like a Lexus. That is to say, it's like driving a car while being dangerously close to a morphine overdose.

Strange, I found it much too firm to be Lexus-y. It absorbed larger bumps relatively well, but you could feel every smaller bump. Great in a sports car but not in the modern equivalent of a luxo-barge.

That is just weird. I doubt it handles well. So it has the unfortunate mix of feeling all bumps yet handling like like an affordable FWD sedan.

This car has no reason for existing. The Lexus ES already exists and uses the Camry platform. The old Cressida was RWD and had an I6. That was a cool affordable mid size car.

But doesn't the aggressive front end get you riled up? I mean this is one mean car. I'm thinking of trading in my E46 M3 for it tomorrow

Oh hell yeah. Especially the hybrid version, nothing gets my heart beating like calculating my MPG and seeing how efficiently I was able to drive last week.

That literally gets my heart beating. Only because I like to wait until the last second to fill up my tank so once I'm nearly out of gas I'm staring at the remaining range, MPG counter, and number of miles on the trip odometer since I filled up and reset it. Always sweating to see if I'll make it to the next station once I get really close.

I've nearly run out of gas a bunch of times but never actually run out once in my life. I haven't even sputtered in since high school.

Oh and related - the big animated MPG counters on hybrid cars are the work of the devil. They are responsible for 75% of Prius drivers driving like asshats. They are staring at the screen instead of driving.

I swear I've gotten stuck behind 3 Prius drivers all driving next to each other on a 3 lane blvd. At every light they accelerated off the line at the same pace. Then they all stopped accelerating right at the speed limit. Only explanation is that they all were staring at the screen and maximizing their MPGs

I don't think so. They were going too slow.

The other 25% of Prius drivers drive way too fast. I swear some of them regret buying the car and feel ashamed so they floor it at all times.

I've been torched by a Prius before. Only because I stopped accelerating and he didn't. We were both driving quick and he went nuts and floored it. He was cutting people off and giving the little car all it had. I backed off around 80 MPH and he just kept going. He was probably going 95 MPH when I lost sight of him. I didn't know they went that fast...

must have got up to 95 when I backed off. I don't want the ticket...
