Does Discovery SERIOUSLY have a show about street racing?

I swear to god I am watching a show about street racing on Discovery right now. I know it is faked reality crap, but seriously, they are glorifying a sport that CONSTANTLY kills innocent people on a regular basis. They even start the show "because we are dumbasses doesn't mean you should be a dumbass."

I know it is faked, and the 5 minutes I saw of it was dumb...but still...they should be glorifying that and saying it is the norm.

Every time I watch a TV show and think "there is no way the average person could stand to watch this" I remember that 1/2 of everybody is dumber than average....makes perfect sense who they cater too.

I saw two ep's of that show and got bored.

Also, BS on the OKC having the fastest street cars in the nation. I would put money on that honor falling on houston, where "houston stock" means you're packing 700rwhp.

Agreed... And to think I used to actually like Discovery as a kid. Then again, they did use to have some decent programming back then. Same for History, which had lots of documentaries on old civilizations that I just couldn't not watch.

That is actually pretty good, It is a bunch of regular PS3 playing geeks trying to be race car drivers. It measures physical, mental, and actual race car driving skill. They have done it 2 or 3 times and the winners of GT academy are pretty damn good race car drivers.

i got sick of History as a kid because it was just Hitler Documentaries, now I would kill to see one of those documentaries that didn't have a spin of Ancient Aliens controlling Hitler.

Haha, very true, on both accounts. I started losing hope when all they'd talk about was World War II, the last days of Hitler, the Nazi Black Magic... Nowadays they seem to believe that the most plausible explanation to everything is fucking aliens, Occam's razor (and basic logic) be damned. The other day I was watching what seemed like a good show about Vikings when an eerily familiar voice inquired "but why did the Vikings feel the need to cross the unknown expanses of the ocean all the way to America?" followed by the same old reply: "Aliens"

Not entirely true, They were banned because they entered a Pro/Am team event and had a real race car driver as a pro and the person that won the show as an Am (teamed up together) the organization basically said it wasn't gentlemanly.

Yeah, and my father just laps it up (but that's the least of my troubles with him). Both Discovery and History channels and subchannels are indeed the poster children of channel decay. I only stopped regularly watching television not that long ago due to my school's insatiable appetite for time, but these days when I turn on the TV and look up these formely factual channels I always wonder "how the fuck did this get broadcasted". The only programs on them I can stand these days are reruns of older programs and the supercar editions of Nat Geo's Megafactories (anyone got a HD rip of those?)... I want Dogfights back :/
