A long time ago, I saw a Ford Ranger being unloaded, still with the white protective tape stuff on it, only this one had the bed and taillights meant for the Mazda B2300. The paint was a perfect match and it even had those cheesy pinstripes on the sides, which also lined up perfectly. And yes, the Ranger and B2300 were made in the same plant. So obviously this truck was messed up early on and no one noticed. Does this kind of thing happen often?

When working as a tech at a Lincoln dealer, I saw a few Mark LT's come through with F150 tailgates and steering wheels. It does happen and I don't think it makes them super collectible. But it depends on the car that the fuck up was on. Maybe on an ultra low production vehicle it would be worth more but a high production vehicle I don't think so.

No SR20, but one of the first 2011 Durangos we got in had a Jeep Grand Cherokee door sill plate on the front driver's side.
More recently we got this in. The Longhorn package is a regional one as far as I can tell and Long Island is a long way from Texas. The rest of the truck is just a regular Ram Express, but somehow that badge made it's way onto it.
And I'd count my Dart as a factory error.

Oh yeah! I remember that one. Pretty neat.
I wonder how many go unnoticed. And if there's ever been something as awesome as a complete higher-end engine finding its way to a base-model car and being sold at the base-model price.

I've read a few camaro5 threads where one 5th gen Camaro owner might have the Inferno Orange speedo/tach when they don't have the IO interior package, another might have the wrong color SS badge, and yet another might not have the rear spoiler even though they were supposed to have one. I've even seen a V8 Camaro with a V6 bumper (these examples apply to the pre-refresh 2010-2013 Camaros, BTW).
I think it's more common for cars that tend to all look the same unless you have an eye for detail, even if a particular car has several available options or just a few. There was a Jalopnik article about a Wrangler(s) with mismatched fenders.

I worked at a Chevrolet dealer and checked a Trailblazer in off the transport that had the usual "Chevrolet" sill cover on the driver's side, and an "Envoy" cover on the passenger side. My manager had it fixed by warranty before it ever got sold.

With those variations in Mazda/Ford Ranger headlights and signals, It seems, in theory, possible to have about 4 aero headlights and signals and make a Family Truck Truckster.

Our 07 Honda Pilot EX has the stereo unit from the EX-L. I know this becuase it has a XM Radio logo on it... only the EX-L could have XM at that time. The dealer even showed us it was a flaw.

Wow you Dart got fucked up, I'd be pissed. This is also one reason why I won't buy a car made in this country, but that's not to say the Germans don't make mistakes.

What you saw was a Ranger STX - They had a handful of styling changes, the most significant and at the same time subtle being that they used a Mazda B-series bed which has different flares and taillights.

I wouldn't buy a German car other than a Porsche.
My Focus was built in Michigan and I never had any issues with it.
