I found this !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! on the Norwegian craigslist, and my first impression was that he was asking way too much for this. Then I started reading. First of all, this is one out of five ever produced. One is at a museum in Sweden, one is in a collection in Belgium, one in Canada, one is wrecked and then it's this one for sale in Skjåk, Norway. The ad also says that this is the one that's in the best condition.
You might spot the Oregon plates on the photos, and this car was bought from a Oregon dealer that used it as a museum piece. That means only 33 350 miles in 32 years. The engine is the regular PRV V6 combined with an automatic transmission. It doesn't really matter though, as this car isn't for hooning, but more like a slow cruise on summer evenings.
But what do you think, Oppo? Is this rare Volvo cabrio a shock from Skjåk, or would you go deep into your pockets and the Norwegian woods for something like this?
UPDATE: The car is now sold. For 30k. Obviously this was NP.

Considering it's rarity and low mileage 30k doesn't seem like too much to ask for it but it's not really my cup of tea.

This couldn't get much more CP.

For my money rarity doesn't always translate to value. This thing is sporting the least attractive of the 240's fascias, and I've always found the chopped-roof Bertone pretty awkward. CP for me.

Considering that regular 262's in this condition go for about 10-15k here, and a 242DL that had done 9000km went for 20k, it doesn't sound that bad. But still.. I'm not sure if I like it enough either.

That's my problem as well. Even though something is rare and old, doesn't mean that it's worth a fortune. I think the Bertone roof works better now that its a cabrio, and the front end is part of the package with these 262's. If I like it? Hmmm, i'm not sure.

Can someone please lower (or remove) that silly antenna? And why does it have that cream-colored interior, when a dark brown would have been so damn much better.

Is it driving on snow or cocaine? Because that car should definitely drive around on cocaine-covered roads.

Nice car, just a shame it's an auto. I'd have to replace the American headlights, they don't suit the car.

People say that, but I'm not quite sure. Only made one (so far), but there might be traces of my struggles with Kinja in the post.

I'm not really a fan of the Volvo 262 Bertoné's proportions, since it always looks too flattened with a high beltline. I'm more of a Volvo 780 Bertoné Coupé kind of person, so I'd probably spend $10k on a 780 and save the rest.

I like the 780 more as well. It reminds me of a Maserati, but with better quality and a Scandinavian feel. It's also kind of funny that the 242 is better looking than the 262 Bertone.

Nice condition 262Cs are going for a hefty chunk of that already, so it's not a bad price even if it wasn't the ultra-rare convertible.
