I saw the badge and had a :D but then I saw the rest of the car and said D:

But you still got the D, twice.

I don't even bother getting excited over badges now. Too many ///Mposters.

Obviously its not a M5 but those look like not cheap wheels. Wasn't a 540i was it?

Clean car none the less.

I once saw a new 6 series rolling around in new york, I was happy because it had M6 on the front and the only one I have really seen before was my fathers. It looked slightly different in the front but I didn't really question it. Then the light turned green and as he was driving away it didn't have the burble of the M6 and on the back was the badge 635i... I started laughing so hard the other people on the block waiting to cross the street like me started looking at me funny.

I hate you so so much right now.

I still don't know why people do this. Anyone who really knows that badge is going to recognize that it is not a legit car. And the badge doesn't help the car at all. Does it really make the owner feel like he is driving an ///M? You have a perfectly nice E39 dude, just be happy about it.

They looked like Style 29 wheels, which means (if they're stock) it's a 530i.

The owner isn't looking to impress people who know what the badge means. This is like Mercedes owners that tack on an AMG badge to their E350 -_-

Yeah it looked alright but the ///M badge was really faded.

gotcha

But the rear valance looks like an M-sport 540i bumper. I have no freaking clue haha.

Isn't the dish and flat lip reminiscent of Style 5s?
![]() 11/22/2013 at 12:41 |

Actually yes it looks like them but those weren't made available on the E39 from the factory. I've got no idea if the wheels were stock.

Looks like an M package. I always look at the mirrors of any M car, that's usually a tell-tale that most folks neglect when trying to emulate the look of a real M.

17" Style 5s were not available from the factory on e39? I thought that that were pretty common, especially on the Sport models whether 528i or 540i. The rare style 5s are the 18" models or the e36 fitment ones with a larger offset.

I'm getting my info from here , so there could be some omissions. And again I have no idea what style wheels they were, but they looked like basket weaves with big lips.

I see. It's a very good website, especially for looking at obscure and rare OEM wheels. For some reason, BMW called "Style 5" pretty much any wheel that has a cross (basket) weave pattern. This ranges from the 14" on the E30 to the 18" mentioned above. The E39 had pretty specific wheels since they had a lower offset and a slightly larger center bore.
I don't know why I know these very minute precise details. And I can't remember what I had for breakfast.

This is useful information don't worry. Breakfast memories are overrated anyway.

Aside from the stupid M badge it looks tastefully modded. I see a catback on it to
