On my '95 Dakota 4x4. Good idea or worst idea? I have tools and the factory service manual. I've read over the suspension and steering portions I can't count how many times, and I'm feeling catty enough to give it the ol' college try.

Am I doing something that is incredibly dumb? Should I take it to an alignment shop, only to pay for them to possibly tell me they can't align it? Should I start throwing parts at it and see what happens? Joke option Spiegel?

Stanced Dakota 4x4?

Could be cool, I guess. If you're into that sort of thing.

Think of it this way, whats the worst that could possibly happen right?

True dat.

At the very least, I should be able to get it a whole helluva lot closer to factory spec than it currently is.

I'd take it to a shop.

If you want to try it yourself you should and then take it to a shop. A good shop will tell you if it doesn't need adjustment and won't charge you. At least the Meineke I bring my cars to does.

That's what I'm thinking. I gotta get underneath anyway to check/replace tie rod and pittman arm joints, so I'm thinking that whilst I'm doing such I'll attempt to correct the camber.

Maybe I'll try that string trick "poor man's alignment rack" trick as well.

Yeah, good luck. I think I'd rather stab myself in the leg.
