meh, just a vomit comet, with a missing grille badge might I add. A grand more can get you into a LX sport with similar miles.

The things I could do with that grand though.....

J-mod it, upgrade the intake and airbox, and put a decent flowing exhaust on it. Throw in some 3.73's and play with the ECU tune and it'll really wake up.

Anything else you listed you cant be done all for a grand. Most people want 800-1000 to do gears in the tri state area, a tune with xcal3 is usually 400, plus a marauder airbox + maf for another 125, and exhaust work is never cheap.

I'd rather have a civilian car to be honest. I don't like stripped out model cars

I can do my own gears....Measure twice then measure again. This wouldn't be something I would schlep the family around in, so no need for the bells and whistles. I do agree it would most likely cost over a grand, but that grand would be a large chunk of it.
