I'm talking full color change, any lessons learned? !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! seems to have a nice little writeup, haven't checked the Youtubes yet, but I'm guessing lots of people have "how to" videos on there. Curious if any Oppo'ites have taken the plunge and bought a roll of vinyl (and if so, from where) a heat gun, an exacto knife and gotten to wrapping?

I feel like I have the patience, but probably like the E90 guy did, one piece at a time. Then there's the whole plasti-dip thing which admittadely I have no knowlege of other than a quick google search. Seems like it may not hold up over time unless you put a bunch of coats on.

I wrapped my hatch handle. It's harder than you might think, but pretty durable. I wouldn't have the patience to do the whole car.

From the research I've done it seems pretty tedious and you need 2 sets of hands to do the big body panels. In terms of cost vs getting a repaint- its certainly cheaper but only has a limited shelf life (3-4 years?) before the UV fades its.

I'd say 'Dip over wrap. It's easier, cheaper and will last a good year or so, depending on your climate. dipyourcar.com has all sorts of tutorial videos on how to do it right.

Start with a set of wheels or badges and work your way up from there.

I haven't, but now you're giving me ideas. Flat black looks good on just about everything.

I'm wrapping my motorcycle this winter, and my buddies S13 as well. It's extremely easy after a little practice, just time consuming. Throw on some tunes in the garage and do it with a friend. Time really flies.

I've looked into getting my car wrapped and have gotten an average cost of $4000. I've decided to go the plastidip route for $600 instead

Yeah, that seems to be about average from what I've seen ($3000-$5000). I'm going to try it myself I think this Spring.

Was the $600 to have someone plastidip your whole car? (I picture this big vat and a crane).

Yea, i've got a sudo/partial sponsorship from a DipYourCar authorized installer in Wisconsin. He's going to Dip my car somewhat resembling the falken tire rsr livery pattern (with slightly different shades as not to infringe on any trademark) for $600. I think normal cost would be like $800 or something around that. I dunno for sure though.

The guy is the same one that did a free hand (no stencil) pattern of a motorsport flag on part of my car.
