Yours isn't working yet. Watched another video and it looked like the engines were over the grass. Or at least close enough to the edge of the tarmac to kick up a lot of dust.

Jake, there is supposed to be a car show this Sat at 199th and 69 hwy in the kcpl parking lot there. Last month there was 5 or 6 ferrari's and 2 lambo's a viper and a pretty wide array of other vehicles, you gonna go?

I would, but I'll be in Houston

It's working now.
The news was saying the airport was worried about damage to taxiway lights and such. It's not a wide runway.

Thanks for freezing your arse off to make this video.

Yeah, it'll be in the 50's in Houston on Saturday and might not get above freezing here.

Yea I'm doubting many of the supercars will show and while they are beautiful to look at and admire, the DD's are the most fascinating.

It looks like it is going so slow when it takes off. Funny how size and distance screw with your perception of speed.

It's going to be nasty in Houston this weekend. But, as you say, not freezing.

Yay, rain!
Just an excuse to spend my vacation on my ass inside.

so who's to blame for this? The Pilots? THe Plane? ATC? All of the above?
![]() 11/21/2013 at 16:10 |

Yeah, I even blurted out in the video that it looked really slow.

Piece of cake. I'd still like to know just how much runway they used. I'm guessing just about all of it. What were wind speeds there? Sounds pretty gusty, from that same front that's going to blow through Texas tonight.
I remember when I was young, flying regularly on the 727 and 707, the pilots used to lock the brakes, spin up the engines, then release the brakes. It gave you a good nudge into the seat back. I wonder if these guys did a similar thing here.
Thanks for the video.

nothin to it...
Ahh, I miss those High Plains winds....

100% pilot error. They landed at the wrong damn airport, it's their fault.

It was 15 gusting 30 I believe (mph). Looked like 4500 of the 6000 feet or so.
They definitely spooled up while on brakes, you can hear them spool up in the video, and it was very audible in person.

Who's hosting the show?

Yay, static takeoffs!
I miss Wichita and the aviation culture there.

So was talking with the CFI that I'm working on my commercial rating. I pointed out that they landed before the FAF. Then he started wondering who drops their gear before the FAF?

Oh it's in Kansas City. Yeah, I'd have considered going if I wasn't going to Houston.
