I know, I know, it's just not the same as a real F1 car. Still, an Audi team, another launched by Alain Prost and pit stops involving running 100m when changing cars ? I gotta say, I'm excited for Formula E.

It sounds pretty bad, doesn't it ? But if you forget the sound, everything about Formula E sounds absolutely great : Le Mans-style car changes, city circuits, lots of great names on the starting grid, and so on. And I really think it's got the potential to reconcile many people with the very idea of motorsports, with it's eco-friendliness, relative quietness and city races. And if the first season goes well, the second one should be very interesting as the teams will start building their own cars !

Most street circuits are terrible IMO. I want to be interested in Formula E, but I just can't.

It'll be interesting to watch. I'll be the first to agree that the grand theater of loud engines is missing in electric racing, but I've raced electric and nitro powered RC cars for a long time and know that exciting racing happens regardless of the powerplant.

Well, #1, it's basically a spec series; Dallara does the chassis and McLaren the electronics/drivetrain. #2, while not all street courses are bad, having the schedule be made up entirely of street courses is a bad idea in my opinion. #3, the whole pit stop procedure is ridiculous. I'd rather have them come up with better battery tech, so the cars can go further, or design the car in such a way that a fast battery change is feasible. This is motor racing, not the Olympic 100 yard dash.
