So, while testing at Daytona, not one but TWO Corvette DPs (Action Express and Spirit of Daytona) ending up with the rear rights blowing up and going airborn.

I'll link the articles bellow, but the TL;DR version had Richard Westbrook of SoD having a massive back flip that landed him into the catch fence (see pic above). As you can see he above he is fine. Also a lot of people are saying that P1000 tire compound Continental has been using for the last two years can't handle the combined stress of the DP's new downforce/power and Daytona's banking. Although that is a good guess at the cause, nothing is official and it's just speculation now.

Wait, so more power, and greater downforce and Continental didn't see the need to imrove their compound or the team didn't have any access to something that was better?

That has to put a whole lot more stress especially on the right rear outermost sidewall especially at speed on the banked roaval...
