Just got some pictures off my camera, and there were a couple I wanted to put up here:
These are my parents' cars. The 2.5 Jetta is my mom's, and the 2013 WOB edition GTi is my stepdad's
I've only driven the jetta so far, and I have to say I really like it. it might be my first car, but that's a bit away...
I should add, both are sticks!
also this:
I liked how this turned out, so I felt like sharing it with you guys!
This is my stepbrother's slushbox equipped 2006 elantra GLS
it's not a bad commuter car, and it handles the twisties pretty well, but it isn't the most reliable thing in the world!
hope you liked 'em!

If those are the GTI rims I think they are, love them! Are they the default for the WOB edition?

yes they are!
they look amazing on the car!
much better than the normal MK6 alloys, which I actually like a lot!

You call your self an Opponaut and you fail to mention the Saab? You have much to learn young one.

...well, if you really must know, that's an early 2000's 9-5. Slushbox equipped, I noticed.
I assume it's either the infamous saab 2.0Turbo, or maybe a 2.3...
that good enough?

The 9-5 only came in a 2.3 or a v6. I could tell you the year if I could see the wheels and/or which emblem they use (Saab-Scania, or just Saab). Just be aware that we love our Saabs on Oppo.

Hmmm, you liked the Jetta? I tried but couldn't. After somehow putting the atrocious interior aside, I still wasn't able to find much good in the driving experience. Good gearbox, but coupled to a light clutch with little feel, I didn't find myself shifting excessively. Brakes were garbage water, steering was passable and the example I drove was powered by Briggs&Stratton apparently.
I'm glad you like your mom's though! I'm sure with a little more wheel time in my buddy's I'll warm up to it, but after my first few times, I'm not impressed.

it had the 3 fat spoked wheels, so I think it was an '01...

jettas seem to have a specific trait to them: At speeds above 75 mph, on open rural roads they just come alive! The Gti was having trouble keeping up at some points on our road trip.
Also, try driving it with a full trunk. the extra weight makes it a blast to toss in to the twisties!
not the fastest, smoothest car on the road, but (IMO) definitely can't beat it in terms of driving dynamics on a family car that's less than $21,000 new

I should add a friend of mine has the same jetta as my mom's (also a manual, but grey) and he was able to hit 110+ mph in it. not the smartest thing to do, but these cars feel awfully german at high speeds, even though they're made and designed in Mexico. have a pic of the speedometer on my mom's pegged at 100, just need to find it...
