Six litre capacity (366 cu inches) and develops 540 bhp. It's based on one of the rare aluminium Cleveland blocks into which was fitted a custom built Moldex crankshaft, Carillo conrods and Brooks forged pistons.

Agree. A prime candidate for mod. I've thought a 4.6 would be a great fit for the little sucker. Not too much, but plenty.

Honestly I wouldn't know.....and the DOHC would be a hell of a lot meaner in that car.

From what I've heard, the four-valve heads don't flow appreciably more air than the three-valve ones used in the '05-'10 Mustang GTs did, and I know there's a lot more of the 24-valve motors around than DOHC ones. From a pure performance standpoint, I don't think you really *need* the four-valves until you're pushing a pretty serious amount of horsepower. Still, I suppose, if you're inviting madness, why not go for every little bit? Certainly doesn't hurt.
On a different note, I'm almost positive I saw a story on some website or another where a fellow did just that, took a 4.6 mod motor (of some variety) and somehow squeezed it into the engine bay of a bright yellow Mustang II. As I recall, the engine's width was the big killer, and necessitated a complete redoing of the front suspension and engine bay; despite their displacement, the modular engines take up quite a bit of space!
