I don't know about the rest of you, but I think NASCAR has been a snorefest the past few years. Sure, there are a few bright spots here and there...but as a whole-it's boring. Tell me you can stay awake listening to the cars and Darrel Waltrip drone for 4 hours. I know I can't.
Let's get our minds together and come up with some new ideas to freshen up NASCAR.
Here are a few of my ideas....
-Give each team a 20 pound bottle of nitrous, they can use it during qualifing, the race, whenever-but when it's gone...it's gone.
-At the longer tracks keep all the aerodynamic stuff they have now, but run much narrower harder tires. I figure if they have narrower harder tires...they will have trouble getting power to the ground...so why not get rid of the carb restrictor plates? Let's see those guys drive an 900 horsepower car with 8 inch wide tires.
Last idea? No sponsor mentions in driver interviews. The sponsor has their logo plastered all over the car, the drivers uniform, the pit crew, the transporter,etc...I get so tired of listening to those guys say the same product mentions over and over again.

-Bond car-style weapons. Oil slicks, water cannons, caltrop droppers, etc.

The second time they go here
...they run it like this
Repeat at most ovals visited twice

This, all the way. I always thought NASCAR was pretty great on road courses, where they have both less laps and a more tense race when close together. Superspeedways are great, but if they're supposed to be iconic there shouldn't be 36 of them in the yearly schedule.

Not only a great driver, but a great personality too. His story is a sad one, and I miss him.

Do away with the current points system and institute a "Ricky Bobby Rule" where the person with the most wins snags the championship... If you aint first you're last...

Enforce that each car carries a full interior and create a rule stating that each car must be carrying at least 1 team member besides the driver when driving.
Even if it doesn't make NASCAR too much more exciting, at least we'll have production cars with lightweight interiors.

That is an old picture of Pocono, IIRC they got rid of the Modified oval back in the late-80s.

Quit your bitchin'. NASCAR is perfect as it is. (For the record, this is as close as I expect San Diego to get to a major sport Championship in my lifetime, so I may be biased. Go 48!)
Also, there was a pretty epic explosion today.

Change second Texas race to COTA - that would mix things up ...

I would love that, there's so many road courses I would love to see them visit (can you imagine them at Road Atlanta or Sebring?), but all the track owners (SMI etc) absolutely refuse to give up dates. By running the road course during one of the two visits we could get as many as ten extra tracks without any venues losing dates.

End the season before the NFL regular season. Replace 4 mile and a halfs with dirt tracks running modifieds (require the same engine to run the week before or after). Penalize multi-car teams with a weight or restrictor plate penalty to make the single car teams more competitive. Institute a "claiming rule" for the winning car (like to see Front Row racing get their hands on Jimmie Johnsons 48). One race per year have a lottery after qualifying to see what car and team you will actually drive in the race. The drives share points with their switched counterparts. One race per year will be a Saturday nite "chain-race" tethering two cars together (inversely according to the point standings, first tied to last in points) again the team share the points. Every local promoter knows that the gimmicks bring in the crowds. Tell me you wouldn’t tune in for these races...
