Walking around the corner to go down the stairs and having to skip a step at the last second is one of the most annoying things my cat does. At the perfect time of day, which normally coincides with me getting a 3rd or 4th cup of coffee, the sun lands on the top stair. And so, the cat lays there, just out of sight on that top step. I've nearly died at least twice.
