The new Dacia Logan wagon is here! In Germany it's available starting at €8k including VAT. Excluding VAT that would be €6.7k ( $9.0k ). Seems like a good deal to me if you're looking for something new, incredibly cheap, spacious and simple.

I wouldn't get one, 'cause... Well, £7000 can buy you quite the car if you're not shopping new, but the various Dacias have always had a sort of honest, practical charm to them. I imagine they'll make decent first cars for the teenagers of the 2020s.

I'm looking forwards to getting a Dacia in about three years, once they've had time to depreciate by two-thirds. Poverty-spec 3yo Sandero for under £2k? Yes please.

Might still be in warranty too if you're lucky!

The world needs more entry level cars, not the 'tribute' 500's /Minis /Beetles that the manufacturers are churning out - entry level means you have a lot of pocket change to go on holiday and rent out a Mercedes / BMW for the holidays in the sun that you'll be able to afford, instead of paying back wads of money for something that depreciates faster than a burning €500 note !!

I wouldn't buy a new car either, but there are loads of people who only buy new or see buying new as by definition superior to buying something second hand. For those people, and there are lots of them, this is a great car.

I don't know about the UK but in the Netherlands Dacias hold their values quite well. Probably because they're priced very low already when new and there isn't much to break.

They come with a 3 year/60k mile warranty as standard, so they'd be out of warranty by the point I'm thinking about. Cheap to fix, though, and compared to the 7-10 year old cars in that price-range, probably a lot less to worry about.

Yeah, I'm kind of expecting that to turn out to be the case here as well. I know that at £2k I could ship a 3yo Sandero to Romania and make a profit, so I doubt the prices will actually go quite that low quite so soon.

But even if they retain 50% of their value after three years, you're still looking at a sub £3k car.

What'll be interesting is to see how many UK Sanderos actually come in poverty-spec, and how many will be the more expensive ones - and then how the secondhand prices will compare. You can spend almost double on a new top-spec Sendero compared to the base model, which is somewhat unusual.

4 year warranty is £300 i think, 5 year/100k is £600

Its basically a mid 00's clio in a handsome body, so parts are abundant and theres plenty of knowledge on them already.

Nice cars, dacias, I was pushing my mum to get one, but a brand new fully loaded chevvy aveo for £10000 was too good a deal to turn down...

Is it weird that they renamed the Sandero just for this estate version? Anyone can see they have the same front clip, yet they have different model names...

It's not that weird given that the Sandero is already just a trunk-less Logan.

The Logan name has been in use for longer than the Sandero name. Besides, the previous Dacia wagon was named Logan as well.

They even start higher in over here in the Netherlands, the base model Logan MCV is already 11.760...

True, but we don't get the base engine other countries get. In countries like Germany they offer a NA 1.2 and offer the 0.9 turbo as an option. We get the 0.9T standard for some reason.
