So I've !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! about a new rule change for the upcoming GT3 season, which would require "control chassis," i.e. a universal chassis for every car. Obviously the two car s below couldn't coexist. Apparently the rules were released fairly recently.

Kinja'd!!!

These are apparently the new regs, could someone who speaks Japanese or is better with gtranslate than i am look through this and confirm?

Is this a rule for the FIA's GT3 class or for the Super GT GT300 class? I sense this is a move by the JAF to keep the increasing numbers of GT3 cars from taking over from the more traditional cars that run in GT300

SuperGT isn't GT3. Currently, SuperGT allow GT3 to run with GT300 class in an effort to get car counts up. That kind of backfired because initially there was a big influx of GT3 cars with a lack of BOP data and wiped the floor.

I'm guessing this is a reference to the co-developed spec that SuperGT will soon share with DTM in an effort to have cross-over competition. DTM utilize a standard tub/safety cell around which each of the cars are built. There's also a spec engine that will be utilized.

That being said, There are people here who are more knowledgeable on the topic.

There is a GT rules change due in 2015 (or 16) that should unify GT3 and GTE into GT and GT+, with one for factory teams and one for privateers.

Without knowing any Japanese, it looks like these are just regulations for GT300, in which GT3 cars are eligible. There's also GT300-only cars ( CRZ (woo Zytek!), BRZ , and Prius RZ ). Starting next year, as a way to get more manufacturers interested in GT300, Dome has built a cheap GT300 tub that just needs an engine and body to race. I suspect that these regulations are for BoPing GT300 and GT3 cars together.

There are what, 3 Super GT GT300 cars? A RC-Z, a BRZ, and a Prius.

Like the others have said, this is something only for Super GT. The FIA wouldn't dare screw up GT3 like that. They aren't NASCAR.

Neither SuperGT nor DTM are moving towards a spec engine. There's regs on displacement and arrangement, but manufacturers can build their own engine. SGT's GT500 is using a DTM spec tub starting next year, but they will use hybrid turbo 4s instead of DTM's V8s. There's also some funny business with the chassis, because Honda's GT500 NSX will be mid-engined, as opposed to the front engine used by everyone else.

Within SuperGT, will GT300 be moving to the common tub spoke of above? I guess the most important thing here is that GT3 will not be having any major regs changes soon? At least I haven't heard anything from FIA. It's hard to follow the DTM/SuperGT deal.

GT3 is not GT300. GT3 does not apply by any rule book. Anywhere. It is an idea. It is regulated by championships individually, not by some overarching group.

Remember, the FIA and SRO can't even if they want to. Their creation is managed by individual series now. Even the new GT/GT+ regs aren't actually relevant to anything without the series, since individual championships can choose not to accept them, but of course they will be adapted worldwide.

GT300 is untouched in the DTM deal. Dome has developed a customer GT300 chassis/tub that is intended for the "tuner" industry (whatever that means) to try to fight the growing numbers of GT3 cars in the GT300 field.

GT3 is due for a major overhaul in 2015 (or 16), when it will be merged with GTE to create GT and GT+ classes. Each manufacturer will use the same base car in both classes (i.e. McLaren would have a 12C in both classes). One class will be for factory teams (and ambitious privateers) and will allow more aero and engine development. The other will be for privateers and will have less aero fiddly bits.

There are multiple cars in SuperGT with anime liveries. It's kinda funny.

I'm going with option#3; Ballsiest Livery. I mean, if you are going to have anime girls on your cars you'd better kick serious ass in every race. We're talking Vettel in Singapore ass-kicking on your WORST days...
