Even GM can get it right sometimes , but in typical GM fashion, they kill off good things real quick. Bummer!
Today on the ebays, I bring you the last great Pontiac ever built. Except, it isn't actually a Pontiac. Nope, its a Holden ! You see, most GM products that make you say "wow, THEY made this?" aren't real American cars. Pontiac GTO? Holden Monaro. Buick Regal? Opel Insignia. The G8 up there? Well thats just a Holden Commodore!
For those of you who are unfamiliar with the G8, Pontiac released the rebadged Commodore back in 2008. It came in 3 flavors; the base G8 had a 256hp 3.6L V6, the G8 GT had a 6.0L LS2 V8 making 361hp, and the G8 GXP had the 6.2L LS3 making 415hp. Reviews for this car were great, with many reviews comparing it to the !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! . GM is bringing back a successor to the G8 which will be called the Chevrolet SS, but I don't think it'll live up to what the G8 once was.
Now, the car we have today is a 2009 G8 GXP with the 6spd manual (the only way to buy a GXP IMO). This car sports a fantastic shade of red called "Sport Metallic Red", which was only put on 169 GXP trimmed cars. Did I mention this car only has 1,246 miles ?
Because this is a GXP, you also get a set of 14" brembo brakes up front, and the lovely 19" wheels. To help keep the wheels planted, the GXP has a FE3 suspension package, which consists of larger swaybars and revised spring rates. This whole setup was tuned at the Nürburgring, because everyone seems to do that now.
Besides the GXP only wheels, the car also has a revised front facia, and some badges and stitching on the seat to remind you that this is no plebeian G8 V6. No sir, in case the 6.2L V8 and 6spd manual didn't let you know, maybe the 11 speaker blaupunkt audio system would.
The original car did the 1/4 mile in 13 flat, which for a sedan is very good. But apparently the owner of this car wasn't satisfied with 415hp, because he threw a Magnuson Supercharger on top of the LS3.
(Dust off your engine why dontcha!)
The Magnacharger for the G8 seems to be an Eaton TVS 2300 based supercharger, which puts out 6psi on the stock pulley. Magnuson claims this is good for an extra 120hp/tq !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! .
(Supercharged engine? No shit!)
Magnachargers are really popular in the LS world, so its no surprise the owner decided to choose this for a boost application. Its based off the tried and true Eaton platform so reliability isn't a question. The 2300 based blower can also be found on the ZR1 corvette and the Shelby GT500.
(Lets just look at this again because it looks so awesome)
On the inside, the interior is stock and I'm okay with that. Holden did a good job with the interior on the Commodore, using good materials on a nicely laid out dash. This car has the 11 speaker Blaupunkt sound system (the base sound system is 7 speakers IIRC) and I can tell you from personal experience this system really kicks ass. Sadly the US cars didn't get Sat Nav because the NHTSA determined the screen was to low. However, since the EU and AUS versions of this car did get Sat Nav, I've seen people hack the stock radios to make it work.
Its a shame this car was so short lived, because its another example of when GM actually gets something right. That might also explain why the resale value on these cars are just barely coming out of the stratosphere now. Is it possible they may even reach a cult collectors status as time goes on? I'd like to think so.
This G8 GXP can be found !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! with a current bid of $34,995 and one day left. It currently has 26 bids, and I don't blame anyone of the bidders for wanting this car.

There's a blue one at a dealer near where I work that has gone the N/A route for power increases and is about 20hp down. It has just shy of 40k miles and has...an automatic transmission. All of it can be yours for just shy of $37,000.

most people do heads/cam/intake builds for LS motors, easy way to get 400+ rwhp
