Never tried that one. Years ago my buddy and decided to split a six pack of something called Bigfoot Barlywine while wrenching on one of our cars. After finishing our respective three we were feeling pretty toasty and decided to read the bottles. Turns out it was 11%. Sometimes six can be too many. Cheers.

Me either. But I feel kind of cheated because normally I like winter/Christmas varietals and just kind of grabbed this on the way out of the store. If I had read the notes on the bottle I probably would have smashed these out on the loading dock before driving home. I'll try anything once but peaches and pecans this far forward in the taste just does not turn out right. Peaches in beer could theoretically work, but it doesn't in this one.

It's like drinking cold, fizzy, fermented cobbler.

Nothin' finer than a Shiner! Shiner Bock is my all-time favorite!

Ah yeah, Bigfoot is from Sierra Nevada. Good stuff. I like their Kellerweis a lot, which has banana notes but is not weird or gross at all.

Tucking into some Old Forge Overbite at the moment. Quasi Local craft, prepackaged (as in bottles/cans) but not sure how far distribution is. Nice to know there are beer people on here too. Too often gearhead swill seems limited to bud/miller/coors. Some guys look at you like you have two heads if you walk into the garage with something not from one of those three.

Yeah there's quite a few aficionados on here, and a beerlopnik tag most of the posts get put under if you want to search for that.

I just relocated and am sampling all these regional beers that I am not used to seeing. This was by far the worst experiment to date.

Not sure I've had a bottled peach beer outside of Dogfish Head's Festina Peche that was at all drinkable. Some of the local craft brews can pull it off, but they tend to be sour beers.

I miss Troegs stuff. Used to live on the East Coast and could get it a lot easier but I haven't seen anything of theirs in years.

Thanks for the tip on the tag. Regional beers are one of my favorite things about travel, moving just sounds like more time to explore.

That might be the issue, then. This stuff is way too sweet. Like...bootleg soda sweet. I love Shiner Bock as a no frills anytime beer though, so I guess I was hoping for more from these guys.

The one and only time so far, I had to mentally and physically power through a beer was when I bought a 750mL of Lagunitas Hop Stoopid, that was a mistake on my part, a stoopid one if you will. I sincerely hope I never feel the way I did after, ever again

Turns out I'm a lager guy or Hefeweizen...mmm

Ooh man, Hop Stupid is a splendid beer(people bag on it for using hop oil blah blah blah). I was aghast when I moved to the left coast and could get a 22oz bomber of it for like $2.50 from the corner store.

I hear ya though, took me years of drinking good beer to work up to any hoppy beers. Lagunitas and Stone both hope the ever loving shit out of almost all their beers.

Right now I just can't handle the bitterness or heavy roasting, I like my malt a lot more, hence a good weissbier or whatever is always appreciated, but when it tastes like I'm drinking the burnt coffee dredges, or drinking ipecac syrup....just eughhh

I just had a bottle of Evil Twin Ashtray Heart tonight. I should have known better based on the Beer Advocate reviews that kept mentioning 'band aid' as part of the aroma and taste profile. Would've happily traded you for a Shiner Peach Pecan Abortion.

I will say that you could probably use this Shiner to bake some pretty awesome bread or cupcakes, but I'm no baker so I'll just have to believe it has some other use.

Yeah, peach, pecan, band aids, none are particularly great flavors for a beer.

We have a local beer here in Milwaukee that's brewed on contract for a local pizzeria, and it proudly states "brewed with basil, oregano, and garlic!" right on the label, WTF?! One of the absolute worst beers to drink but it does make a fantastic pizza dough.

The one and only time my girlfriend's parents have visited the states I bought a six pack of this to share with her dad and I and it was kind of amazing how we both actually liked a beer made with peaches and pecans. Having been over there a few times, since they don't live in Bavaria or close enough to some of the bigger cities that have their own beer styles they drink a lot of pilsners so this really kind of caught me off guard. Can anyone in Texas confirm that this is in cans like Ruby Redbird was? I would LOVE to get some.

I'm with you on the weisse, not really a big fan of bitter

Weihenstephaner (Original, Oktoberfestbeir)
Ayinger (Urwiesse)
Schneider-Weisse (Tap 4, Tap 7)
Mahr's (Weisse)

All really good. All sold in ~16oz (pint) bottles, Weihenstephaner comes in 6-packs too.

Also, if you can find it (don't know how far out of Mass they've made it) Jack's Abby does some pretty good stuff

Wait, you got Ruby Red in a can?! I was able to get my hands on a 1/4 keg of Ruby Redbird for our first anniversary BBQ (wife loves it) and can find some places that will have bottle 6 packs in the summer but would love to be able to have it in cans for a bit more portability and space saving in the frig.

Yeah, I didn't find it too frequently up in the DC area but it is available in cans.
