True, but in my case I was probably trying to bite way more than I could chew anyways. I wanted to fix up and install some Guy Croft approved parts on the Tipo, but after looking at prices... Well, I'll take a decade or two to get that much cash.

I make lists of things to accomplish every time I work on my car. When I get those things done I write them down in a notebook dedicated to my Trans Am.

Apparently the diffence is quite noticeable. My boss has one on his Challenger and the kid down the road has one on his Dart and they both say they feel the difference. For $74, I say why not. I almost bought one for ths Focus before I traded it.

Already has an Opel Astra JOPC engine in it, upgraded intercooler and charge pipes, stage 5 clutch, catless doownpipe. Custom tune.

A 1995 Fiat Tipo Sedicivalvole
It shares major components with Lancia's Delta Integrale, includind the engine, but they're rare as a hen's teeth in Brazil. I'm not even sure there's a second one in my entire state anymore... They sold pretty well in the UK, or so I heard, but even there, there are like 5 still registered for road use and 9 on off road notifications. Stock or replacement parts haven't been available for years now, but Guy Croft, a british specialist in Lancia TwinCam engines, still manufactures and sells performance parts for these engines.
My plans for the summer included upgrading the engine to Guy's naturally aspirated Stage III specs, swap the suspensions for the Alfa 156's specs and a brak upgrade, but the engine alone would cost me around 20 thousand reais to complete, between buying and importing the parts and sending the block and crank to England to have them honed.

BMW:
Window regulator installed
Find source of oil leak
(Maybe) fix oil leak
Install halo lights
Get drivers seat restuffed (getting a bit worn...)
Find a way to make LATCH anchors more easy to access
Montero:
New tires
Fix valve cover gasket (or keep adding oil every few days...)
Front tint
My list is long but my disposable income is less. Life, man, it's a cold bitch.

That must be a blast to toss around. It looks like an Italian Civic Si.
My car has the FIRE engine which I'm sure you know was found in other Tipos, so that's a bit of a coincidence even though yours has that Lancia 2.0.

By front tint on the Mitsu, do you mean the driver's and passenger's front windows, or the windshield? I'm debating wether or not to do a tint bar again.

I'm chipping away at mine.
Wire up the KC lights
New 15x8 wheels
New 33x12.50 tires (downsizing from the 35x12.50s on it)
New upper control arms for a proper lift and alignment
Front and rear receiver for a hitch
A 12k winch for the hitch reciever
Rear bumper rack for a couple of Jerrycans and extra spare tire
Onboard 1000w generator
Onboard compressor
Aux fuel tank
I could copy the whole list but it's pretty long.
Basically I'm planning a trip from Iowa to Alaska via Newfoundland.

Makes a huge difference, I did a sway bar and it trued up the feel of the whole car. But by far the two mods with the biggest difference was a brace that bolts under the rear seat, and a rear sway bar. The first made cornering so much crisper and crawling up curbs way stiffer. The RSB made my Speed 6 into a monster, I can take corners you would never believe would be possible.

Are you familiar with this alleged check vakve on your car?
http://www.dodgedartcentral.com/forums/15-dodg…
Supposedly the Abarth has it but Dodge left it off our 1.4, but the plumbing for your car's dual intercoolers is so different that when I looked it up at work I couldn't tell what I was looking at.

This would only add up to maybe a tenth of what the car cost. I'm certainly not getting a better car for $2k. It's going to be my DD for the new few years, I want to make it something I'll really enjoy. Down the road I'll trade it on a Mustang.

Chteelers
> oldirtybootz
11/15/2013 at 11:36 | 0 |
You're gonna do all that for $2k? My suggestion would be to ignore the CAI, strut brace, and IC tube cause they won't yield any real gains, and are definate money sucks. Wheels are pretty pricey, and are just cosmetic improvement over the few years of ownership, and will have neg impact on resale. You can sell them off, but only get 50% of orig price if you're lucky. Tint is good cause its cheap, looks good, and keeps car cool in summer. Exhaust is good mostly just for the sound enjoyment, if you get a good system, though no real hp gains. Short throw would also be good cause it's cheap, you shift all the time so you'd notice it, and it's a fun project to work on.

Front windows. Usually they add the strip on the windshield but it doesn't affect me either way. It covers the same part of my vision as a visor would, no big deal.

Anything to help the car breath better woukd be much appreciated. And $2k is a rough estimate, but it should be around there. I'm not too concerned on getting it back on resale, I just want to enjoy the car.

Yup, the FIRE engines were found, I think in all other trim levels, save for the 1.9 Diesel Tipos. Here in Brazil, we only got the locally built 1.4 and 2.0 8V and the italian built 2.0 16V models, though, but the FIRE engines also came in pretty much everything Fiat sold in Brazil in the 90's and 2000's.
Can't argue that it is a pretty fun car, haha... The only modifications we've done so far are slightly reworked engine heads and a sports exhaust with better flow, and it already gave it enough torque to climb a steep slope in 5th gear coming from 30~40 kph.
oldirtybootz
> BlazinAce - Doctor of Internal Combustion
11/15/2013 at 12:24 | 1 |
5th gear would never get me up a hill at low speeds lol. That's 2nd or 3rd in my car becauss of the turbo lag and the Dart's weight.
BlazinAce - Doctor of Internal Combustion
> oldirtybootz
11/15/2013 at 12:42 | 0 |
Haha, I know, even I was surprised the first time I did it. I can climb the slope near my place at half throttle if I'm alone, or a little over that with passengers, but the other day I shared the car with 4 of my colleagues and though it would be best not to try it.
I'm currently trying to find a steeper slope though, see what gear I can climb it on. There are some nasty ones here in Porto Alegre which are a lot of fun to go down, not so fun to go up.

My town is ridiculously hilly for an average American town. My house is at the bottom of two hills, one much steeper than the other. If I shift to second before I reach the top of the steeper one after leaving my driveway then I'll bog down and barely make it up.
BlazinAce - Doctor of Internal Combustion
> oldirtybootz
11/15/2013 at 12:52 | 1 |
Mine's not that hilly, to be honest, but, of the few hills around, I live on top of one the tallest, Independence Hill (Morro Da Independência, the brazilian name sounds awful), so, in order to get here, there's no escaping going up. I've only been driving in Porto Alegre for a year, but I figure I'll end up developing hill climbing to a science... For example, always be certain of which lanes are frequently used by bus and truck drivers because the asphalt will be all screwed up, so you wann avoid those. And when you have to take a corner after a hill, never pick the inside lane, because pedestrians waiting to cross the street tend to stay 3 or 4 steps out of the sidewalk and you'll end up hitting them or waiting for them to clear the lane.

God that would drive me nuts everyday. I'm a sucker for good tint. I bought my 530i with 10 or 15% all around and had matching 20% on a 2001 Grand Cherokee I had. This sounds ironic, but we get a lot of sun here in South Dakota so I really appreciate it when we are in the 80s/90s/100s and there's no clouds to be seen.

It's definitely got a different torque curve to it. A lot more responsive in my opinion.
Runs cooler which is nice.
Louder turbo charger.
More capable of good gas mileage and good performance becuase of the higher compression ratio.
It is also the A20NFT(if you do research it is the higher compression and more performance oriented engine)

It's a blast to drive, kinda like a go cart. And it's so loud!
I've actually been meaning to look into that mod. I've seen it on the Fiat forums. I didn't think I had a check valve, maybe the later build dates do. Mine was built in May 2012 just a few weeks before they stopped putting the "suitcase" over the straight exhaust to make it look like it had a muffler.
