Welcome to One Car Garage, in which I choose a manufacturer or class of vehicle, and you decide choose single vehicle (no matter how old, no matter how exclusive) to live with for the rest of your life. This is your only vehicle, and all expenses are paid for, including price of entry, insurance, gas, etc.
I'm sorry Oppo. Sorry that I've practically abandoned you. After I decided to slow down the OCG posts I got busy with work, then took a trip out to Denver to visit my dad, but more that, I got lazy. I've decided to get back at it though. We're going to pick things up with Pontiac.
It's kind of funny; I've been pushing this one farther and farther back, because I'm so freaking torn on what to choose. The two choices I'm torn between are the 2004 to 2006 GTO and...yes...the Aztek. As this is Oppo I'm sure some of you will understand my reasoning. For both. On one end of the spectrum is a car with a wonderful powerplant bolted to a RWD chassis all stuffed into a beautiful sleep. On the other end is a practical AWD SUV of sorts that is no doubt gaining a reputation as a cult classic (with the help of a certain hit television series). Unfortunately I have to throw one of these vehicles to the wind. My Pontiac of choice is going to be the GTO. If I could get a 6.0 with a manual transmission in Cosmos Purple, I'd definitely be satisfied. Oh, but I'd want to do away with the garish hood that GM thought would help sell these things to ostentatious Americans. I'll take the flat hood from 2004.

G8 GXP in black for me please preferably in the canceled "sportwagon" trim

Lots of good cars to choose from, but I have to go with a Trans Am GTA.

This is, this is not at all a fair post. How can you pick just ONE Pontiac!? It's an impossibility. There are too many good ones. From the Catalina Super Duty 421, to the Banshee I, to the '64 and '68 GTOs.
You're a monster!
edit: That's a damn Holden and you know it! :3

Just pick one. :)

The Solstice. A future classic, to be sure.

Solstice Coupe. Anyone with eyes can see why.

Welcome back Eric. There is only one choice. 66 GTO.
![]() 11/15/2013 at 14:06 |

Not exactly the one, I want, but close.
I want a 1967 GTO with a four speed, hood tac, all black with the Royal Bobcat tune.

This 1969 Pontiac Catalina wagon I once found on Craigslist. 428 big block and a four-speed manual transmission.

Pontiac Montana. Because there is a worse vehicle than the Aztek.

Already have one,
Just need someone to pay for finishing it....
![]() 11/15/2013 at 14:19 |

That's actually a decent choice, because you could beat it to death without ever really caring about it.
![]() 11/15/2013 at 14:25 |

1957 Pontiac Safari. Because "Shooting Brake". Because V8 Tri-power. Because hardtop wagon. Because RWD.
Because because because because because....because of the wonderful things it does.

Have to agree with him on the Holden thing though.

Same here on needing giant piles of money to finish my Poncho.

Love the look of this car. Hate that it's a Pontiac. Same with the Saturn - love the look, hate the brand.

I need to start mine.... still amassing parts.
![]() 11/15/2013 at 14:53 |

I'm having to pick them up as I go along, since it's my only form of transportation.

Firehawk SLP please!

Why the hate?

Mallet Solstice coupe please.
LS7 wide body solstice? Yes please.

Can it be included if it didn't reach production? If so, definitely the Pontiac Banshee. The plug was pulled as the Corvette guys got scared.
![]() 11/15/2013 at 15:26 |

Why my own of course! (Though a bit faster and better looking)
![]() 11/15/2013 at 15:31 |

Maybe that's why I like it. ;)

Is have to go 55. I love the suspenders. But I came here to post that. Pontiac had the best looking GM from 55-57 despite the popularity the Chevy gets. Give me the chief any day.
![]() 11/15/2013 at 21:08 |
|
I like the '57 because of the fins at the back and the fact that the headlight bezels look like they fit. The '55-56 headlight bezels bug me.
And I have to vehemently disagree with the '55 Pontiac was the best-looking GM that year. It's definitely the Buick:
But at least we agree on body style! The Safari was the one to have. It's the obscure Nomad. And it's excellent.
![]() 11/15/2013 at 21:24 |

The Buick is definitely great looking. I just love the flatter face and the hood trim. Plus, the first year of the Pontiac V8 that lasted forever. The Chevs aren't at all bad, but they are definitely the least gorgeous of the 55-57 GM's in my eyes. The 55 is the only one I really love, and I'd only go With a black 150 or 210 2 door sedan. For some reason I think they're too flashy with multiple colors.

Those V8s were the business!
And I love your avatar and handle. Massive AMC buff here. Massive.

Thanks, great to see a fellow AMC fanatic here!

Just not a fan of Government Motors, and I've owned a Saturn that was crap and my daughter bought a Vue that was crap. A long time ago, I had a Pontiac and the fit and finish was really poor. Lots of rattles from the interior.

mine would have a newer drivetrain, though...
also, new brakes all around

My dad has an '02 Chevy Venture which is essentially the same thing. You could do whatever you want to it while you go camping with your friends and it will still love you.
Well ours at least.

Ahh... you are back, was worried for a bit here mate. Sadly I missed this somehow, so I won't give an answer this time, I will however make a new OCG right now.
