!!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! Now I for one am not getting too excited because we all know what happened the last time Subaru showed an awesome concept and then revealed the production version. I also am fairly confident that the 2.5GT 6MT is not returning nor is the wagon. So come to think of it I don't even know why I wrote this post.

From a decade long Subaru owner: tell me that the thing doesn't weigh a ton and that a potent turbo motor will be available WITH a manual transmission. Otherwise no thanks.

The 2015 WRX was very underwhelming. It's concept was pretty cool. This concept may be pretty cool as well with fancy headlights, aggressive haunches, etc. The actual car I expect to look like a Camry since the Impreza looks like a Corolla.

Their lineup of AWD cars and crossovers are reasonably svelte and are getting lighter. The newest Impreza is 110 pounds lighter than the model it replaced, and Subaru says that all of their cars are going on diets.

Well that's some good news. Now they just need to offer a manual with the best engine and I might consider one. But my guess is they won't. If a manual is available it will only be with the base engine and the auto will be a CVT.

I'm with you on that, but people who actually buy Subaru's tell an entirely different story. Take rate on the Forester XT when it was offered with a manual was less than 5%. The same went for Legacy GT sedans and wagons.
Now, if people actually bought the cars they demand, I'm sure Subaru and other companies would offer more manuals, but again, nobody actually buy them, so Subaru responds accordingly. I'm sure the WRX/STI will be the only turbocharged car that they offer with a proper manual going forward in the future.

Are you saying that all modern cars look alike?

I like the looks, but I won't get excited, leave it to Subaru to transform a futuristic concept, into something that looks half decade old.

haha they are starting to, yes.
It has more to do with Toyota's dominance and other automakers like VW and Subaru trying to go beige to keep up. Look at the most recent Jetta, Impreza, Corolla, etc. They all are looking more and more alike.

I'd go one step further and add that nearly all production cars from nearly all eras resembled each other in some way. Styling languages from all brands follow each others trends, so it would stand to reason that all cars sorta look alike.

Not disagreeing with you other then that I actually bought a Subaru. But when I bought my Forester XT back in '04 I had to hunt for one with a manual. Plus I know their sales have gone up substantially in the last year or so. It's just a shame that the company has abandoned the idea of offering fun to drive versions of more of their cars than the Impreza.

The local dealer traded their last Forester XT with a manual to another dealer who had a buyer for one, but didn't have one to sell. The local dealer sat on theirs for over a year as there were no takers for Forester XTs with a manual.
I searched in earnest for a Baja XT with a manual last year and came up with nothing. I'd imagine there were less than a thousand (?) sold in the US in that configuration.

To my knowledge they haven't built a Forester XT with a manual since the last year of the 2nd generation, '08 maybe. It's only been available with the base naturally aspirated engine.
Would love to have a turbo/manual Baja, just because those things were so silly.
