I wish Reflections made this into a full game

Still replaying Driver: SF. The remake of the Interview from Driver makes me wish they just remade the first Driver in HD. I'd buy the shit out of a collector's edition of it.

It would come with the game, a 1:18 scale miniature of the Pontiac Le Mans used in the Miami Missions, a book with maps and routes for the four cities and specs for all the cars used in the game and a bitching jacket with "Wheelman" written on the nametag.

And i didn't even slide into the sidewalk in that one. :p

That shot is from a replay of my damageless run of "The French Connection" challenge, which has you racing in the flattest poritons of San Francisco, heading to the airport and dodging period-correct traffic in a Le Mans.

I love the this and the original Driver game, so much so that even though I downloaded a pirated copy a couple of years ago where all the wheels wouldn't render (hovercars!), I played it all the way through.

I still have my original Driver for PC somewhere around here... Both the case and the manual are in awesome condition (The PC I owned back when I bought it couldn't quite handle it, so I played far more in a friend's PSX than on my own PC). I'll see if I can find it and post some shots later

It doesn't matter because the civilians are all secretly ninjas.

My car isn't though, and slamming into lamp posts, mailboxes and those pesky buildings is kind of a given when you're trying to beat your times :p

True, its been so long since I've played it anyway I forgot if you can use a manual instead of an auto?

Unfortunately, nope, it's auto only. You get manual shifting animations for most cars when on the inside view, but the only "shifting" mechanic is the one to hop between cars.

To be honest, I never thought it was much of an issue though. There have been kind of unusual commands since the first game, like burnout, speed control and full steering lock buttons to improve control over the car during stunts, adding a transmission to all that would require three hands to play :p
