As in, driving characteristics. I'm sure there are a lot of cars out there that look like crap to drive but are actually a hoot to drive. I can't really think of one right now, but here's a picture of a Fiesta ST which kinda counts. I'm talking general public, btw. We jalops know what cars are awesome.

The proportions are weird because it's small, but other than that it's not a bad looking car.
Although given the hilarious fun I've had in the base Fiesta, I can only imagine the ST is a hoot and a half.

What is misleading about the Fiesta ST?

To the general public they might look like a crappy little econobox. My mom thought so lol

Misleading? I thought the review was thorough enough to consider the Fiesta a top choice if being chased inside a mall by baddies in a Corvette.

I'd say sleeper cars are the most misleading out there. Taurus SHO, Genesis R-Spec, uhm... Audi RS6.
...shit, maybe it's an Ecoboost optioned Ford Flex, those bricks are fugly, but fast.

A lot of non-car people I know love the fiesta ST but couldn't figure out why until I explained it to them in the following way - It's a fiesta hatchback with race car parts in it to make it turn better and go faster". I managed to "sell" another one today to a friend. 2 of my friends now have Fiesta STs and one stepped up to the focus ST. Keep in mind, none of them are "car" people and the focus driver had his first ever autocross this past labor day.

Any small hatchback. And I mean any. The Fiesta ST and Sonic RS both qualify, but with badges that argue otherwise (ST and RS) they both at least promise to be fun, and are (I assume the Fiesta is, I haven't driven one)
The Fiat 500? Standard Sonic? Standard Fiesta? Mazda 2? All surprisingly fun.

I'm talking general public. Aka mom scale. Moms think it's a small dumb car. Or my mom does lol

Cobalt SS sedan/ HHR panel van SS
Not for sale anymore, but look at them......a passerby would have very little clue that they can both rip 0-60 times of mid 5 seconds and curb-stomp much bigger and more powerful competition at the track.

There we go. This is the kind of answer I'm looking for, although I'm not sure the HHR would be as fun to drive lol.

It's a cobalt SS with only about 200 extra pounds but a ton more storage space. It is biblical to drive. I know a guy who has one and it is a scorcher. Hauls a lot of his tools and stuff too as he does server maintenance and repair/upgrades for a company. He says it's great when you absolutely, positively had to be there 5 minutes ago.

Regular focus, superbase rental I had a few years back. Was the auto trany looking to save on fuel? Damn straight, it shifted at 2k rpm all the time unless pedal to metal. Was it cheap inside? Well it was a rental with base everything. The only two power options were windows and mirrors.
Having said that, it was suprisingly tossable. I mean this thing must have had crappy tires, and steelies. However it freaking handled like a large go cart. I took sweepers at much higher speeds than the thing had any right to. The engine was surprisingly very smooth, not a hint of nvh on the thing. Weird.... Made me rethink the equation a bit. After renting it for a solid 30days, I was surprised at what it could do. That ugly rear on the sedan however was gross. The front was sexy though. The only car that made me think power is not everything... So I bought a 400+ hp car after the rental period.

Sorry, missed that last sentence. Almost a paradox.
The top engine in the line. Nothing taller than a Subaru. That takes care of two problems. Past that I'm clueless.

Did the HHR SS come with a manual though? I've only ever seen it with an automatic.

I've only seen it with a manual. They definitely had a stick and most were sold with one.
