Oh Pabst, beer of choice for a game of beer darts but I don't think I can sit down and enjoy one by the fire.

There was a nice bottle of white as well, but I didn't buy it and don't remember - I think an Italian.

Not drinking tonight, but saving in my fridge for a Friday night. So dark it sucks the light out of the room.

Really enjoying this one right now. I wish that I would have gotten another bottle, especially since it was on sale at the time.

Ah nice, I tried an Oktoberfest Rauchbier yesterday. It was like drinking pulled pork.

You mean a brown paper bag, or a wine-bag? Nothing wrong with the latter: it's an excellent way to keep wine. Years ago, I ran a ski chalet in France for a season, and we got 20 and 40 litre boxes of very good wine. Because it was in the bags, it didn't go off, unlike opening bottles and stuff.

Not good for cellaring wine, but if it's for drinking straight away they're great.

Yep, also pretty good to sneak into a backpack and have the spout stick out for quick refills on the go.

Also, er, less refined? I forgot to post the link, but that's about the cheapest bottle of red in my local Waitrose. £5.30 or something. Not bad for the price, though.

This one has a more subtle smoke flavor. I also think the oak-smoke vs the beech-smoke used in rauchbier makes a difference in beers tasting like bacon. That being said I do enjoy a good rauchbier almost as much as I enjoy a good serving of pulled pork.

Plain Coke... I already paid way too much for crappy food, don't feel like crowning it with a good beer.

What I should actually have said is that I'm now drinking water and getting ready to sleep. I really shouldn't have started thinking about that half-full bottle again...

I am leaving for a business dinner soon and my plan was to have no alcohol at all (would have been a first for a work dinner). But then I saw your post and now it will be impossible to not have a beer.

Discovered a delightful little number last weekend called Caldera Ashland Amber. I've enjoyed a couple tonight. Unfortunately, the last can was a bomb. The hazards of drinking craft beer.

You should try their Vanilla Porter. It's become my go-to on chilly evenings.
