So my Volkswagen has been at the dealership for just over a week, it needed minor things like some small paint work, head light and hood re-alignment and a rattle in the rear passanger compartment that's covered under warranty. I was put in a no cost enterprise rental, a chevy spark at first which later threw every code in the book with only 6,800 miles. The next car they brought me though was this... a 2013 corolla... The spark at least had a spunky feel, this on the other hand is plain BORING. The corolla does everything " aight. " It goes at a push of a pedal, stops in the same fashion and the gas mileage is decent. It's silver on grey plastic everything, nothing grabs you or intrigues you.. I can't remember ever hearing anyone say " OMG IS THAT A COROLLA?!?!?!" Seems like this cars 2 purposes are to be a rental car or your grandma bettys 2k mile a year get her pharmaceuticals and get her hair done mobile.

It's just..... blah, whats the most boring car you've owned/driven?

Aren't loaners even faster than rentals because you have to pay even less money for them?

The most boring car I've ever driven was one of these. 3-door 2000 Corolla hatch. Decent transportation appliance, horrible at everything else.

I know it's almost insane to bash GM, but here goes.

A Chevy Cruze.

I've mentioned before that the Cruze is a good effort *for GM*. GM was so used to shoving utter crap at us, that it could get away with truly horrid machines being sold.

I find the seating position in the Cruze all wrong. Mainly because you are either Shaq distance from the controls (and no one can sit behind you either), or when you are closer, it feels as though you are sitting on top of things, rather than behind the wheel. And once I do find a workable position? Try turning your head for a blindspot check on the driver's side...

Kinja'd!!!

BAM!! Nothing but B Pillar!

GM has to keep trying, because I'm still in "I'd-rather-live-with-the-decontented-Jetta" land as opposed to the Chevy land.

I like the Cruze diesel, because it's got a diesel. I'd never buy one because it's a Cruze.

Because I am under 25, here in VA you can't get a dealership loaner.

The last generation Corolla Wagon, with a 1.4 diesel. I know it tics most of the jalop boxes being a manual diesel wagon, but it's still a Corolla Wagon. This particular one was baby blue as well..

Dodge Caliber. Not sure what year it was, but man it was terrible. I've had all kinds of cars as rentals and most are maneagable. I took a Mazda 3 up Pikes Peak, I drove around in a Dodge Nitro for two whole weeks and enjoyed it. I've had a Prius, a Fiat 500, lots of random rentals, but the Caliber was a special kind of terrible. Slow, spec'd out for a 3rd world government agency, it was awful. The plastic to the right of my knee and under my right arm was so hard that I damn near bruised. I couldn't wait to take it back.

Decent as in a decent transportation appliance people seem to want? They already do. Decent as in something a little more interesting? When hell freezes over.

I guess you asked a rhetorical question.

" The plastic to the right of my knee and under my right arm was so hard that I damn near bruised."

I am cryingggggg, love this. You know? I have seen multiple calibers in my area and there are many things that erk me.. One they have amber turn signals on the tail lights but 9 times out of ten the brake lights double as the turn signal? wtf dodge? The tail lights always have water, the rear wiper is always broken, the head rest SUCK, its slow yet thirsty, its basic but I'll damned if they dont throw chrome wheels on it and call it an R/T..... I feel your pain.

I had to have one when my truck was getting repaired, and it was awful. Totally blah in every category. The only good thing about it was it wasn't an Aveo. I have some hope that the new 2014 Corolla has exorcised some of those demons, because at least it looks better inside and out.

The Corolla had the nastiest hard plastics I've ever seen, and that's saying something considering my daily driver is a Ford Ranger.

The Corolla wasn't always that bad, it seems to have started with the '98-'02 generation. I had a '93 Prizm LSi and it had a nice soft-touch dash and a decent looking interior. It even felt a bit sporty with the manual and the 1.8. When they redesigned them for '98 it was though they stripped every nice attribute from them.

What's the real world difference between a no cost enterprise rental and a loaner?

It's a low point in Dodge history. The SRT model seems plausibly decent, but that's about it. Agreed about the chrome "R/T" model. What a crock.

The new Dart seems like a step in the right direction.

Ahhhh small pick ups... a lost relic.

Someone I knew in high school had a 98 corolla pinkish faded gold on tan and it was horrendous. SO bad, I hated that thing....

wanted to rent a car for a road trip. went to Dollar and they gave me a Chevy Aveo.

Kinja'd!!!

they didn't have any other cars. i drove it home (since i was dropped off), parked it, and drove my own car. it was, BY FAR, the most heinous thing i've driven. ever.

Nissan Rogue. Fucking hated it. CTV sucks. No power. Numb handling. Shitty interior.

Kinja'd!!!

It is just a sentra with all of the dynamic negatives that come with the lift.

By the end of my 2 days with it, I wanted to do this:
