!!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! , this was a thing that would spray stuff onto the tires of your 1969 Chevy for better snow/ice traction. 188 cars were ordered with it.

I still wonder how it would work, I was "introduced" to this by a prof of mine last year.

That is seriously cool. I had no idea. Seems like more would've ordered it, but I'd assume it was never really promoted and no one knew it was available unless they hit every box.

The gist of it seems to be spraying the spinning rear tires with a chemical of some sort that would stick to said tires. If I had to hazard a guess, I'd say that chemical would probably provide traction by lowering the melting point of the snow/ice. My second guess would be that it's hydrophobic, so snow/ice would be slung off the tires.

It was probably a mixture of lead and asbestos emulsified in paint thinner.

Probably threw some DDT in there, too.

Or spray VHT traction compound to improve 1/4 mile times. (Which was probably more realisticly what they were after.)

I actually saw a Camaro that had this. It was owned by a guy who had a restoration shop. The car was rough but he bought it because it had a mix of low number options. (traction spray-disc brake rear + center console with gauges.)

I wonder what percentage of these rusted out or are restomodded beyond recognition?
