...including about 50 miles of awesome Central California hill-roads. There was a bit of traffic, but I managed to redline the Z's 3rd gear for the first time.
Someone on Oppo here had posted something about driving gloves in the past. I loved having them for this drive; that thin wood wheel is awesome but gloves make it feel much better. Too tacky though?

That has to be one of the nicest Zs I've seen in a long time.

Awesome car mate!
And is that a walkie talkie sitting in your gentleman's area? What shenanigans were you guys up to?

That is a gorgeous Z! And as for the driving gloves, I've always wanted a pair but haven't found any I like. I'd look online but I want to try them on first. My hands get clammy as the temperature drops and driving gloves could be helpful.

beautiful Z, just stunning!
also what's the walkie-talkie for :P ?

Sharp eyes! I had a friend driving an RX8 along with me, and he had the other one. Its fun to be able to have a bit of banter while stuck behind some slow traffic, and occasionally we'd warn each other about a surprisingly sharp turn or some oncoming traffic.

Thanks!
I friend in an RX8 was following/leading. We decided against relaying ahead/behind, and mostly just used them to chat while occasionally stuck behind slower traffic.

Thanks! Yeah, these gloves were my Dad's, but he never used them. They just kinda miraculously fit; I've really enjoyed having them around.

http://dents.co.uk/heritage.asp You will not be disappointed. The most beautiful leather I've come across.

These do look quite nice. Perhaps for Christmas.

I've seen people use golf gloves for driving too.

I take my e39 up to Priest Station sometimes for a burger. Nothing better than asking a girl to lunch then taking her on a 3 hour drive through the canyon.
Not me, but the road described

That road looks amazing! Definitely one to remember next time I head up toward the bay.

Thanks! It is super fun.

What kind of engine's your z got? How is it geared? What kind of exhaust? Also I hate you.
![]() 11/10/2013 at 17:53 |

Sorry. haha
Its a stock (rebuilt about 10k ago) 2.4L, 5 speed (I assume from a 280, previous owner made the swap), stock diff. Exhaust I'm actually not sure about, but its relatively stock-sounding - quiet to 2k rpm, a bit of hum up to 4k, and then a lot of glorious screaming.

Incidentally, I also drove Mullholland today! It was in a Subaru Forester, and still a blast.

that's cool!
my parents have the same principle, only they warn each other of cops, not turns!
still, good to see that some people still see driving as a social task!

I guess I'll start looking for my own Z.....

Nice! I've actually never driven Mulholland, how is it these days? I've read that it gets just a bit trafficcy now.

You won't regret it. So fun.

Its really fun. All the conversation and socializing as having a passenger, but they can drive too.

There was very little traffic, aside from one tasteless matte pink Bentley, a Quattroporte and a Nismo Nissan Juke. The rode quality is crap though, with loads of holes and rough areas. There is one section where it is so thin with a ditch on the side that I was afraid I was going to fall in to it when another car came. It is really worth a trip if you can. It is one of the few roads left where you can do (roughly) the speed limit and it is still a blast. In the Forester, I was on the limit of grip quite a few times too!

I ought to make the trip down sometime. Thanks for the scoop.
