" , an old Land-Rover found meaning in straightened aluminum parts and a set of reworked axles. This week, our story begins with questions: Who is "Cooper", and how do his tires look so very teh awseom? What part will Warn play in this story? Stay tuned.
!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
Sprinkling of new parts here and there, brake lines run, hubs all together, shocks, bumper, and (not mounted yet) a Warn winch to go with the hubs.

Straight leaves, Allmakes so more or less OEM equivalent. if not high end. As much as anything, got the tires on so I can link up the track rods - the ones we've got, one has a somewhat buggered thread end so we've got to see how that goes. New frame came with a new steering relay, so we need the arms on it as well.

I couldn't tell you right off - there was volume pricing involved and they were part of a chassis+springs kit. The complete suspension kit that includes them, though (shocks, shackles, U-bolts, all bushings, all bolts, etc.) goes for a little over $600, IIRC.

Okay, yeah that's much cheaper than parabolics. What engine do you have on there? looks like the 2.25.

Yep, original 64/65 2.25. Just ordered something else you'll find amusing not 10 minutes ago:
A hub city Model 22 gearbox for the usings of the rear PTO, hurr. Not this one, the one we moved on was <$200, which means with the excellent eBay'ed trans-side PTO unit we'll have less than $450 in the PTO system so far and should end up not much over $500 for the whole shebang.
What we still need: a drive flange for 1" keyed shaft, a 1 1/4" to PTO adapter sleeve, and we need to take a semi-dead spare driveshaft down to Asheville Power-Train to get it made into a PTO driveshaft - that's it.

Looking at using it with a bushhog, really, but mostly it's a "check me out bitches" item. Any kind of PTO rover is scarce, and they're not getting any more common. And, it's another sharp object to keep off tailgaters, and a sweet way to drive a propeller if we ever build a float rig for his truck out of 9 to 11 55 gallon drums. Maybe.
The Fairey OEM aluminum case rear units are very hard to find. So hard, in fact, they're worth (if not weight in gold) as much as 1/10th their weight in silver. A full kit in absolutely perfect condition might go for two grand. For some reason the trans output units are much more common than the rear box, and occasionally you get lucky. There's a ratty full kit one for sale in the UK not shipping internationally that starts at ~$900 (it includes an extra: belt drive) and will only go up from there. I've got a Fairey rear unit, but for the rest, we had another two trans units only and no rear box.
We were waffling on whether to fit "Busted" with one, but my cousin saw a very low bid trans unit on eBay and snapped it up, so then we needed a rear drive...

Just did a quick search, holy shit balls batman. I think I need to go to old government scrap yards next time I'm in South Africa because I'm sure you'll find PTO Landies sitting around.

Now you can see why we're jazzed to be able to put him a near-as-matters to OE as it needs to be PTO kit for ~$500. I think the biggest user of PTO LRs in the US was the Florida highway department, because for some insane reason they were mowing medians with them briefly (Floridabugs.gif). The one mine has was in use in South Korea, IIRC.
