I've noticed over the past few days that we don't have nearly as many posts as normal. Is Oppo dying? I think it's time to recruit some more Opponaunts.

I think we have plenty of new people; promoting Oppo will kill its spirit. Plus, it's the weekend, so a sustained decline can be the only death knells.

I don't think Oppo is dying at all. It may seem like less posts than usual but it's still plenty. And I agree with what was said earlier, promoting Oppo too much could ruin it and invite in unwanted trolls...

I think the weekend is just slow...but yeah we have our ups and downs. I think things always slow down a little when format changes happen.

You have to change the "Save as private" to "save as public" then it will post the content!

Where it has the orange save button, click the drop-down arrow and it should say "save as public" in blue. Also, be careful if posting large amounts of photos. There is a bug where posting a lot of photos will make it not publish, so you have to do it on the old editor. (it gives you the option to switch)

Thanks, I have been using the old editor. I thought the 'save as public" just simply saved the comment/post.

...i'd love to be able to post on oppo, I just don't have author status yet, I think... (I honestly don't know... I was told a while back that since my comments turn up black immediately, that I have authorship status, but I can't post stuff on oppo for some reason :/)

I would rather have a slow stream of properly tagged, nicely written posts that encourage discussion, than random "hey check out this auto-unrelated anime/doge/ylvis/omgsorandom video/pic/article". There's very little discussion happening in those threads.

But that's just me, and you won't hear me complain in those threads, if they seem to be liked by people, fine.

I miss the days when forums were king of the web. These books of faces and shitters and bumblers just made it dumbed down for the hurr durr crowd, put it all in one stream of information and away you go. Sure, there's tags and categories, but mostly, they're underused and as such useless later on. Scrolling through everything takes a metric shit ton of time and I have to bookmark everything I like if I want to stand a chance of ever finding it again. And god, how I wish we had stickies.

Oppo would be so much better as a forum. YOU HEAR THAT GAWKER? Give us sub-sections, damned and blasted be ye all. FUCK WEB X.0!

Change a few elements in it to adhere to the latest iteration of popular design and voila. Or, just tweak kinja into having similar display filters and mandatory tagging. Job done.

The irony here is that this post is buried so far down, that nobody's even gonna take a whiff at it, save for, possibly, the author. Eh well. At least I can say I don't ever complain. :D
