A friend of mine had a big Impala like that back in the 80s. It had the 427 in it so it was pretty peppy. It might even be worth something these days. Back then nobody wanted them, which is why it was cheap enough for him to buy.

That's a lot of car for a 283 to push around. Still, it's not exactly hard or expensive to give a SBC some extra oomph.
