But I know what I'd buy with $50,000 and change.

Preferably black-on-black, such as !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! in New York.

Small cars are SO much fun! Power is nice for about 3 weeks, and then you get a bit bored with it.

The C7 is very, very nice but with my long-standing preference for small light cars I'd probably prefer an Exige or even an Elise to a C7. However, I think they're in somewhat different price ranges; I believe that to keep an Exige on the road would cost you quite a bit more than a base C7.

I may be wrong, but I was always under the impression that Lotuses were actually quite reliable and easy to service. It's a decade-old design, so in theory Lotus has had time to work the bugs out of everything, it's simple, so not a lot of electronic bits to go wrong, and it has the bullet-proof 1.8 Corolla engine, so a local Toyota dealer would stock parts and be able to work on it if need be... Actually, it is probable that a C7 would probably be cheaper over an extended period of time, but I doubt it would be nearly as fun as an Exige.
