Today was slower than a Tercel at my shop. No cars were sold and I didn't feel like cleaning used cars so I got caught up on some of the little things I've been meaning to do. The busiest part of the day was the first two hours. We got a shipment of 7 vehicles, and I'm the one who checks them in and finds homes for them on the lot. Our lot is laughably small, so I spent the majority of the day moving cars around and trying to find a spot for everything.
Anyway, to the pics im posting. As we all know, the Dart is something of a sales flop. They really are good cars, but people aren't buying them. I don't know if it's Dodge's overall stigma, that people remember the Caliber, or that people just don't think about the car when shopping for compacts. Whatever the case may be, we have twenty 2013s left in stock and 14s have been starting to come in for the past month. If we don't start moving these things, I'm going to have to start stacking them on top of each other. I already did my part and bought one.
So, this is usually the job of the sales department, and we generally don't even use window markers anyway, but I took it upon myself to try and get people in to look at them. Yeah, this may amount to a big "cool story bro", but I'm bored waiting for the Knicks game to come on and my girlfriend is busy with homework. And I don't know about you guys, but I prefer even a "cool story bro" to an NSFW photo dump.
My sales manager loves ordering cars in black, white, and greys. You can't even tell this Daytona is a Daytona because the matte black decals disappear in the black paint. I'd go for Header Orange or Plum Crazy.

Is the dealer lot laughably small because your town is small?

How I killed some people at work today
Today was slower than a Tercel at my shop. No cars were sold and nothing was happening. So the Lot manager decided to ring up my wife and call her down here for a 12 point inspection. "Don't forget to organized the file cabinets." He pops out and says to me, knowing that they're right outside his fucking office. "Hi babe." She says, walking past me wearing nothing but a trenchcoat. Not even a kiss. Not a single iota of loyalty or shame.
"Oh, oh yes Tom, Oh baby..." Oh baby indeed, because that new red on black Neon we had delivered yesterday has been running for the past half hour, and I've hooked the exhaust right up to the vent in the office. Jokes on you bitch, because that new multi-air fiat powerplant has the quietest idle for it's market segment, so you wouldn't even know if one was parked right outside down stairs. Enjoy your orgasm nap you disgusting pieces of human waste, because it will be your last.
Oh, and a Viper came in. That happened too.

It's laughably small because the town used to be small. It's on what used to be the main road through town, but a decade or two back they built a 4-lane road north of the main road and businesses and big box stores started moving there. We never did, but they're planning to move the showroom and lot there and keep the service center where we are now. But as it stands, we're competing with larger dealerships with better known products on a busier road, so we're at a major disadvantage.

Right? That house is pretty nice but they're on the same property as a car dealership and Long Island Ice & Fuel. I think an older couple lives there.

Wait another few months and you can probably get one for about tree fiddy. We also have too many 2013 Chargers. That's another car that's quite nice but people just don't seem to notice when car shopping. The whole Dodge brand is overlooked, really.

I'm also the detailer among other things. I'm jealous though, Chargers and Challengers and whatnot are all well and good, but I love me some Caddys.

I was in new car prep and then when the lot guy went into sales, I offered to go into the lot. It's a lot better flooring V's and manual ATS's around than cleaning 5 Acadias every day...

Wow, what a small world! Yep, I'm at Riverhead Dodge. My mother used to work at Ramp Ford and I practically grew up there and that used to be the King O'Rourke Buick/Pontiac/GMC across the street, if I remember correctly.

Yeah that place was a colossal failure. They sold less than 20 cars....

My official title is new car prep, or "refinishing technician" as far as Chrysler is concerned since apparently new car prep wasn't applicable for the employee discount without some sort of authorization code that sales couldn't figure out. Really though, I do new and used prep(though I dont technically prep cars) and lot boy the majority of the time.

Man you're lucky the cars you stock are cheap enough to get. The most I could hope to afford that we sell is a single cab 1500 Sierra for like $20k. I want an 2.0T 6-speed ATS so badly but they're more than twice that. I'm sure a 6-speed Dart is pretty sweet.

That's about what we do a month...this is why we NEED Chrysler and Jeep.

Wow really? For the size of the lot, you guys sure move a lot of cars. We do about 150 a month but lately since the government shutdown it's been less than 50.

I would love the 2.0T 6MT ATS. My buddy wanted one but he's buying that Ram I posted pics of yesterday. He's gonna be at around $400+ a month. I'm at $336 with zero down. But it's definitely nice to be able to afford what we sell.
And 20+ is a good month for us, so I guess youre right that considering the size of the lot that's not a terrible amount.
