Nein. Ich mag sie nicht.

Ist aber ein schöner früher 601.

We had a later 601 wagon in what my stepdad always called sperm-white. I still remember when the engine seized (as these two-strokes tend to do every 60k kms or so) and had to be rebuilt. Luckily it was on top of the last hill before our home, so there was very little pushing involved.

That 601 was immaculate, a brand new restoration. I wanted to buy it but it was 1,000 Euro over my budget. :(

So you are actually thinking about getting one?

Yes I am. I also drove a Traburg (Trabant with Wartburg engine, also VW Polo front disc brakes) and that was a wild ride! Very fun. I would like to buy a wagon in a very good shape, not necessarily restored.

A Wartburg 353 is also high on my list. I love how that actually looks like a fridge!

I call the Wartburg the best in trailing edge technology: last car made in Germany with a two stroke, last car made in Germany with column mounted manual shift lever, last car made in Germany with a body on frame design.
