At least put some orange traffic cones or close off our lane, because it wasn't safe at all. Specially when the lane they're fixing suddenly closed up and people were practically arguing with other motorists so they could merge to my lane.

I was already in hell.

In one of those alcohol and fatigue fueled brainstorming sessions that can only happen in a college dorm room at 3 am, a group of us decided that orange barrels, detour signs, and traffic cones were silicon entities (Spartakians) from another planet (Spartak) trying to dominate our culture (Earth, or Sol III).

Thirty years later I still haven't changed my mind. Do not fuck with the cones.

How much of a drop off? I've seen 3-4 inches many times before here in California as they are resurfacing lanes. CalTrans does it the same way. From the looks of it all it would be is an annoyance.

Not dangerous enough for a Jeep Wrangler or other SUVs to get stuck, but for my car or the Mitsubishi Lancer in the photo it would be impossible to get out of that mess.
